Well, after seeing what our electric bill, using our A/C will be for our first month, it's pretty inevitable that we will move up north next year. We have found out just how expensive it is to live in Henderson/Las Vegas area. Even more than in Colorado.
Nope, not necessarily there either. I'm the only one that has discussed rodeo there and that didn't get received very well. But, we did try.
Talked to my wife's older sister last night on the cell. She told us that she is setting up a Family Reunion in Vegas next year. She absolutely refuses to hear that we want to move again, but, "it is what it is". She doesn't outright say it, but she'd love to have us move back to So. California, but, fortunately, my wife says "absolutely not" (to me, not to her). After the phone call, I told my wife "sure hopes she has this Reunion before we leave here". IOW, my wife is close to her sister, but definitely NOT that close. When I first met my wife, she was making mental plans on moving to Laughlin, NV and nobody in her family knew it. Instead of Laughlin, she moved to Colorado at my recommendation.
I don't do family reunions. They are set up by unlikable people as bait to guilt relatives into spending time with them.
We went to one, John. My wife's mom, when she was still alive, organized it and we all met/stayed at the old Boardwalk in Vegas. Thing was, only the ladies showed up, no husbands. I mean, wife and I and a very close friend of my wife and her husband. We were the only two men. Don't know, but I guess it was a "girls trip only". My wife would never do that! They flew in from Michigan. It was nice, but........never happened again. My wife doesn't keep in contact with any of her cousins/relatives in Michigan, like her sister does. I barely talk to my half-brother on the phone. He is extremely different than me and have nothing in common. Just like I've only been to one high school graduation class reunion. That was in 1988. Each time they have one, wife and I always have plans going for something else. This last reunion, a month ago, we were moving.
We do not have family reunions, the closest would be a family member funeral or memorial gathering. If we did have one, I would totally LOVE going, because I miss all of my family so much, and hardly ever get to see any of them anymore.
And, just last night , I found out that there are Meetup groups here for Pagans and witches! Starting to really wonder about Henderson, Nevada!!
OMG! Witches and pagans! And they're holding their meetings in your living room? They're not? What's the big deal, then?
I just looked on Meetup. They got those groups all over the place. I saw Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, etc. I wonder how they communicated before the internet? Probably via carrier raven. I wonder why they would pick such a hot place. PS: There is a Pagan Street in Henderson, just off of North Boulder Hwy. Damn, boy!
