are suffocating with Prime High Priced Office space and other spaces due to lockdowns and people working from home and not completely returning to offices...and many jobs are just GONE. And I heard about a mega billion chinese high rise project in prime LA and it is just doing nothing, Heard chinese put a billionn in it for start up and the project is dead and may probably stay dead. All are screwed royally. https://www.costar.com/article/1518...eveloper-hit-with-lawsuit-over-1-billion-loan
I've said it before: this is similar to towns building up around a single industry (mining, logging, military base.) You just never know. I would expect "remote working" to being good paying jobs to whoever in the nation has the skills and a good internet connection. Conversely, employers can pay a decent wage to 5 people in some remote town cheaper than they have to pay a single individual in San Fran or DC or NYC. Of course, it unleashes city folk so they can relocate and poison someone else's well. It's always a net good, unless you're one of the ones who's getting screwed.
All this MESS is homeless mess which has been going since 80's and just gone stronger and Covid MESS......
The city of Charlottesville is being trashed by the City Council. They recently changed the zoning ordinance so that small city lots could have a second "mother in law" house built on them. They have a growing issue with tent cities. The CVille Next Door forum is full of fights between the "be compassionate" crowd and the "these people choose to live this way" crowd. All according to plan. The thing is you cannot tell people that our birth rate has been below replacement levels for a long time (I'd say that about 20 years is a good guess.) Our population is solely growing because of our open southern border. All this "affordable housing" and "environmental damage" and "sustainable living" would be fixed because we would be fewer people...but we're not.
I understand many cities are dying due to the commercial real estate mortgage issue. Owners are unable to renegotiate mortgages at the new interest rates when the buildings are empty. There is still a lot of mortgages controlled by the banks that failed earlier this year that have not found new owners because nobody wants them at any price.
It would not surprise me one bit if this were an intended consequence of COVID + ANTIFA + Defund the Cops.
