Every weekday I'll watch 25 Words or Less hosted by Meredith Vieira, followed by The Price Is Right with Drew Carey. What I like about them is that you can play along and either think up word clues for 25 Words Or Less, or guess the prices of prizes on The Price Is Right. It's fun to see ordinary people winning some good stuff.

Personally, I hate game shows... especially the ones like the Price is Right. My husband watches Wheel of Fortune every evening and I have to come upstairs to escape the vowel buying. :D

I like 25 Words or Less, although I find it annoying when they have celebrities who suck at the game. Makes me feel bad for the contestants who draw that short straw. I'm not much of a fan of the modern versions of The Price Is Right or Let's Make A Deal. The same goes for the new version of Password, although I loved the original of all 3 shows. I used to really like Concentration with Hugh Downs. I, too, watch Wheel of Fortune, but stopped watching Jeopardy when Alek died.

Everyone know the letter is "x"
And the next puzzle would be "YW"

I liked Family Feud and You Bet Your Life.

Anyone remember The Liar's Club, in the 1970s? They brought out some unusual object. Four celebrities had to tell a story about what it was used for. Only one was telling the truth. I liked that one too. Didn't last long.

    The Liar's Club
rings a bell, but I cannot recall watching a single episode. I see it had the ubiquitous Joey Bishop on it, as well as perpetual game show participant Fannie Flagg. And Jonathan Harris???? I never saw him outside of Lost In Space.

Betty White was on it a lot. She could tell good stories. Allen Ludden was the host when I watched it.

Every now and then I watch an old episode of "What's My Line" or "I've Got a Secret." I think those were rigged. :D

Oh, I was just remembering that my parents loved to watch "You Bet Your Life."

How about Queen For A Day?

The heck with jewelry or clothes...you win a washer and dryer!!!!! Oh, and a crown.
You kind of expected a stick of margarine to appear.

Oh great. Now I'm reading Groucho quotes.

There were only 3 channels. You didn't have much choice. It was that or soap operas.

I must have been 10 when that show started on TV. The fashion consultant (almost a co-host) was Jeanne Cagney, sister of James Cagney. One memory sticks in my mind after all these years.

Jeanne (married) became "in a family way" and there was great anticipation about whether she would be allowed to appear on the show while "showing." The word pregnant was still not allowed to be used on TV. They apparently decided she was acceptable.

It made you feel that it was something to be ashamed of, and it carried over into real life. Ahh...the good old days. ;)

I didn't realize that the show started as a radio program in 1945, then moved to television in 1956. Regarding public displays of pregnancy...I think the concern was that it might get people thinking about the events that led up to her getting in that condition [clutches pearls.] It's akin to Barbara Eden's genie costume not being allowed to show her belly button. But pendulums spend the least amount of time at center...unless the clock has stopped running.
