Well I admit I'm just glad it was the net's problem, and not my iPad's fault. I got locked up a couple of times. I had set SOC up so that all I had to do was hit it's icon on the maim screen. I didn't need to sign in, just tap the screen, and up popped SOC. This worked quite well for several months, until last week, when I started having trouble with signing on to other sites. Then all of the sudden SOC wanted my password again. Well .... I had forgotten it, and for some weird reason the site would not let me activate the feature to change my password. So I had to ask @Yvonne Smith to ask @Ken Anderson to go in and fix it for me. So Ken please remind the Mrs. that I'm an old lady, because I'm sending you a peck on the cheek. We do have the best admin. around.
I never had to sign back in, Ina. I have SOC saved to my home screen also. I'm always signed in on here but stay logged off on my iPhone usually just in case I'm banned. If you're banned on here and signed in, you won't ever be able to lurk. I know....unless xenforo resolved that issue.
@Chrissy Page , now what are you planning young lady? Hmmmm? You are a bit of a minx. You remind me of a playful one that stops every once in awhile, looks up, and thinks "Ooops, now how did that happen?" You sure can be a hoot at times, but I guess I shouldn't get such a kick out of you.
I've had trouble connecting to the site today, but I also had trouble with Twitter earlier, so I figured maybe it was more attacks.
We don't seem to be affected yet but there are major DDOS attacks against the Internet core in the United States right now, particularly Los Angeles and several targets in New England. Ireland is being hit pretty hard too, for some reason, and the attacks against Ireland are coming from the United States. I had noticed an hour or so ago that I couldn't connect to Youtube and there are reports that other major sites have been inaccessible periodically, which is what a DDOS attack would do. In the event that you do have trouble connecting to the forum (or elsewhere) at some point, that would be the reason.
We have been under a DDOS attack for much of the day, I suspect, given that we've had in excess of a thousand guests in here at one time on more than one occasion that I've noticed today, and we've regularly had more than five hundred. That's not nearly enough to shut us down, and I haven't noticed any connection difficulties. We could handle thousands of actual members without difficulty. I doubt that we're the target of an attack, if there is an attack. More likely, the attack is against our web server, so they would attack any sites on the server. I don't think it'll be a problem but it could happen.
It would be great if more people were joining and actually posting/replying. Not that I want to wish "connection" failures on you. Who knows, maybe the government is getting more interested in what Seniors think! I know, that's a ridiculous thought I'm just glad some of us atleast, don't live near icebergs
The last two days the forum has been running REALLY slow for both Bobby and I . I am not sure if this is something to do with our server or with the SOC server, but everything else is working fine for both of us. I wanted to comment in case other people were also have everything take a long time, and wondering if it was just them.
