CNN is closing their iconic building in Atlanta and moving operations into existing smaller facilities. The CNN ratings for a recent weekend averaged ~60,000 viewers. Many or most YouTube channels draw more viewers. Is this the end of cable news. or just CNN?
I read that they are moving approximately two miles north to the Ted Turner Techwood campus in midtown Atlanta. Nothing about "closing down" any operations.
Podcasts, YouTube, Twitter, Rumble, multiple on-line aggregators, these are the new sources. Cable news is a dinosaur walking.
They are going back to the facilities they outgrew decades ago. I don't know if they care cutting operations, but they must be cutting staff, as where they are moving is much smaller than where they currently are.
Who knows? It would be speculation at this point because they haven't announced any reduction in force. They have other large facilities, such as NYC.
Since COVID curtailed air travel, they only have 10% of the viewers they used to Regardless, whoever is behind the scenes backing up the propaganda will find/fund another vehicle.
Yeah, that is part of the reduction in their ratings. Supposedly if you passed through an airport, you were counted as viewing CNN. When they lost that concession, the number of viewers automatically dropped. Still, 60K viewers with all the infrastructure they have....
