Bobi, Guinness World Record Holder for Oldest Dog Ever, Dead at 31 Bobi, the Guinness-certified oldest dog in the world, has died. Guinness World Records confirmed the news on Monday, saying in a statement that Bobi “will be sorely missed.” Per GWR, the beloved dog died on Oct. 21 at his home in Conqueiros. He was 31.
I used to do animal rescue work, and quit after I came home with a puppy and a kitten. They both lived to their early 20s. I cannot imagine if they had lived another decade.
That's pretty good I've never had an animal live that long. I wonder if the fact they never fed it dog food instead gave it table food was a factor? I just read this morning that the FDA and the dog food manufacturers recalled 4 different brands of dog food because of salmonella contamination.
I never fed my critters people food. I did not want them staring as I ate, waiting for me to finish. And they only ate Giant Food grocery store brand food (wet & dry.) I didn't catch the part about that other dog eating people food. That's interesting.
Dogs came from wolves which are carnivores. They would be better off with meat instead of bagged mush.
Wild carnivores often eat the intestine contents first as they are easier to get at and often contain vegetative products. My cats often ate the heads of their catch first. I always wondered how headless chipmunks reproduced. It sure seemed there were a lot of them at the farm.
