My high school had a Sadie Hawkins Day dance every year. A girl would ask a boy to the dance and if he accepted, she gave him a decorated garter (that she made or bought) that he wore on his arm the week leading up to the dance to show that he was "taken".
Marty: "You're not gonna believe this. We gotta go back to 1955!" Doc: "I don't believe it!" Marty: "That's right, Doc. November 12th, 1955."
I like these unless they are national holidays proclaimed by Congress. All the time and money they spend on their National days...
