The Virginia governor proposed using 16 weeks as the limit since he considered it a reasonable compromise but his proposal was soundly rejected at the polls. It seems that the border, the economy, and having young people die in wars all takes a back seat to killing babies when young find them inconvenient.
Dr. Kevorkian provided an option for people who didn't want a long, horrible, painful death. I'd also like to have that option if I was ever faced with a long, horrible, painful death. I once saw a friend who was dying a horrible death from melanoma literally beg us for a gun to end it.
True. At least he dispatched people who chose to be dispatched, unlike Dr. Mengele and the abortionists.
I used to volunteer for Hospice, and the folks there never seemed to suffer unless they chose to do so. The majority were given pain killers on demand and could probably have killed themselves that way, but all that I dealt with wanted to spend as much time with their loved ones as they could. I, too, wouldn't want long suffering, but I don't think I would pull the plug on my own life or anyone else's.
I take exception to that. Having an abortion is a painful decision, not taken lightly. I could go into a lot of details but just take my word for it. It is not an easy choice.
If I could have pulled the plug on him, I would have. You can't possibly imagine the pain he was in. Pain killers didn't help.
If it was a while ago, there are different technologies now. If it is a recent death, I am sorry he had to suffer, @Shirley Martin.
Sorry to hear about your friend, but i hope you are not trying to conflate abortion with dying with dignity
Only in the sense that both can be more merciful than the alternatives. Let’s say that a drug addict has a baby girl. She lets her drug dealer rape the child repeatedly in return for drugs. I don’t know how old she was when that began but she was eight years old when she was removed from her mother. By then, she was mentally damaged, probably beyond repair. The last time I heard from her she was in an institution, probably for the rest of her life. Would abortion not have been the more merciful choice for her? An unborn child would not have been sullied by sin. Her soul would have ascended to heaven to live in paradise for eternity. My friend had an extremely aggressive form of melanoma. It began as a small pimple like spot between and just above his eyebrows. It rapidly grew. It spread to his eyes and consumed them. All that was left was two dark sockets where his eyes had been. The rest of it is too horrible to think about. It took eight weeks for him to die. Would euthanasia not have been a merciful choice for him?
So we're killing kids in case they might be mistreated in the future. Why don't we wait and see if they are actually raped, and kill them then? Of course, it would make more sense to punish the rapist, but we'd rather kill his potential victims. No, I don't get it. I guess I'm insensitive for preferring to punish the rapist than his potential victims. Oddly enough, the rapist wouldn't even be sentenced to death.
I'm just saying that there are far, far worse things than never having been born. In a perfect world, things like that wouldn't happen but we don't live in a perfect world. Wait and see if they are actually raped????????????????????????
You were suggesting she be aborted because she might be mistreated if she were allowed to live. We can't make these decisions in hindsight. Up until the time of the abortion, we don't know what her life is going to be like. She might have had a wonderful life. I'd say, at least give her a chance.
A whole lot of people who began life with uncaring mothers have gone on to live productive lives, and ones that they wouldn't have wanted to be deprived of.
What galls me, is Matt Gaetz, a drunk driver in Fla. who gets off, because of who his Daddy is and their contacts, starts a vendetta against McCarthy who could have punished him roundly. Not only for that, but his sex trafficking of 17-year-olds. Taking same to the Bahamas with a drug baron who obtained these girls from a website for sex. FBI dropped the case, but the House Ethics Committee continues to investigate it. There are other missteps this guy has taken, and his private life is one that belongs on a porn site. Now today, George Santos, was tossed out of the Congress because he lied about his bona fides. That is nothing compared to what most of his colleagues have done before him and God knows what is to come. He was duly elected to that office, and his constituents should have recalled him if they were worked up over this. In addition, NY's Democratic Governor promises to fill his seat post-haste. You can be certain it will not be with a Republican. All this is so morally wrong. There should be a special election set up ASAP and allow the voters to replace Santos. The rampant Anti-Semitism and corruption in the hallowed halls of Congress would be laughable were it no so seriously flawed. People should not have to wonder what January 6th was about at all. It is totally understandable. 7
