I sounds like it sucks. I guess it's better that it hit after you got your house ready for sale than before...but still.

I read that it hits white folks between 70 and 80, but did not read of the frequency. One of my sisters has fibromyalgia. I wonder if that increases my chances of getting this.

So, my doc called me today at about 5PM and said he got back the test results and they confirmed his diagnosis. He said however that the test results were so far out of range that he wanted me to start medication immediately and not wait for my follow up appointment, that he had just called the prescription into my pharmacy and I should pick it up tonight and start it. The inflammation has moved into my wrists and fingers and has pretty well incapacitated me. Hopefully the meds work fast. If I get back to plain old normal, it’s going to feel great.

I hope the medicine will do the trick, Thomas. You must be miserable.

Man, I'm glad you have an answer but am sorry you're going through this. So you're gonna take low dose steroids for awhile?

So, I had my first dose last night and, even though symptoms are worst in the morning, I was able to easily get out of bed and get dressed, even sat on the floor with the kitties this morning. That’s just within 12 hours of taking first dose. I’ll have to see how long I have to stay on the meds but such a relief! Although there is a lot to complain about with modern medicine, like there is with most things, I am very grateful to have a doc who so quickly and accurately diagnosed and treated this. Modern medicine also has its positive moments.

Yes, he started me on 20mg oral Prednisone. I know it can have its down side too but I will take that risk over what I was feeling any day.

There are many, many good things about modern medicine, but you must be aware when the darker sides show up.

I deal with all over body aches, spasms, pain and have a 6 hr routine of otc pain stuff, my issues I'm certain from life long OA and all is worse since hip replacement in 2010.....No pharma drugs for me, I considered Celebrex at times, but check the possible side effects. Often the side effects to all the pharama drugs are worse than the issue.

How is your magnesium intake???? There is a major deficiency in this mineral. And yes trhyroid is so not helped by so many docs. It took me 10 yrs to get my thyroid fixed....that was wjem de[pressopm was ramant in me back in late 90's....

Watch those steroids. I never did them. Find some good s upplements to concentrate on. Good luck...

We take quite a few supplements, among them vitamins with magnesium but also Magnesium glycinate as a separate supplement. Yeah, I was surprised to see how common magnesium deficiencies are.

I know prednisone has its down sides but I was fully functional again within 12 hours of the first pill. I suspect generalized inflammation tends to increase with age since I also noticed my sinuses have opened up and my sense of smell has greatly improved, as well as my “seasonal allergic asthma” or whatever it is I have, has also abruptly left me in peace. Anyway, right now, I’m doing very well. We’ve been working out in the garage the past 2 days sorting through stuff we want to keep on one side of the garage and setting everything that the estate guy will take on the other. Right now, I’m just thankful I can get to work on the stuff we have to do. I was completely out of commission a few days back.

Tomorrow I have a follow up with my doc then up to the new house to meet with people to make some shutters and blinds. The houses are pretty close and we don’t want to scare the new neighbors. Then the next day we start on two big downstairs closets and the outside storage. It’s good to be functional again.

Thomas did you have a large family, you folks have lived big, so so many do. And we really need so little but that money burns holes in our pockets if we don't spend it....George Carlin has a great video on STUFF...

I got ride of all allergy/sinus meds when I got with Grape Seed Extract 28 yrs ago...

I’m the oldest, younger sister and younger still brother. So, just average I guess. My wife and I have both been on grape seed extract for quite a while, not sure but certainly 10+ years since I know I was taking it while I was still working. I think I might be prone to sinus issues since my dentist noticed on one X-ray he took that he said it looks like I might have a root that is penetrating my sinus cavity.

Thomas I meant did you and your wife have many children? The more children the more stuff usually is the case.

Oh (duh). I’ve never had any kids. My wife has a grown son from a previous marriage. It’s mostly just the two of us for quite a while.
