Not sure if this goes under pets and critters, conspiracy or vaccines. It seems there are side effects from animal vaccines as well, especially (?) cats which are not good. This guy was being banned from publishing in vet journals etc because he didn't stand with the traditional vets.

I don't vaccinate my cats, although I did vaccinate them for rabies when they were still going outdoors. My last four cats lived to be in their 20s, one nearly making it to 29. The problem is that I have to drive further to find a vet who won't insist on it.

This probably isn't the first time I've mentioned this because it's not the first time he's done it, but Bubba is a butthead. This morning, I dumped a lump of dried-up canned food that Bubba didn't eat yesterday in the compost box. It was so dried up that I didn't even want to take it out to the feral cats. I opened a fresh can of food, a brand that Bubba usually likes, for him. Rather than eating that, he walked away from it immediately and started digging in the compost box for the nasty stuff that I had dumped there and began eating it.

When I was reading this story, @Ken Anderson , it reminded me of when I was growing up and my mom had a compost pile out back where she put all of the kitchen scraps, as well as newspaper, and whatever else she put on there.
When we had chicken for dinner, she sorted through the chicken bones, and the nice soft bones that were safe for our dogs to chew, she gave to the dogs, and the larger bones went into the compost bucket along with the coffee grounds and other throw-away stuff.

My mom never did realize that those dogs went out and raided her compost pile and ate the food that she put out there that they wanted, like the rest of those chicken bones.
So, in my mind, I can see those feral cats watching for you to put the discarded cat food out there because it is too dried up and awful to feed to even the feral cats, and they can hardly wait until you get back inside the house so they can eat it before the raccoons get there and eat it first.

Cat food is changing. My cat does not like the food he used to like He has brought in three rabbits in as many weeks. The last one, hair was EVERYWHERE because he ate the whole thing! It looked like an animal exploded in my pole building. Someone eats his cat food (dry and wet) whether he comes back and gets it or the chickens, strays or other critters. I feed him twice a day. Not sure I want cat food in my eggs.
PS Bonneroo likes to ride with me down the driveway to in front of the barnhouse from the pole building. I had a lot of work to do and he did not want to get out. By the time I got back he had stepped on the hazzard flashers. Reminded me of SNL Toonsis the driving cat.:D

I've had cameras out, and they do, but so do skunks and raccoons. Since I plan on harvesting this pile next spring, I have reduced the stuff I put in the compost, sticking more to leaves, shredded newspaper and cardboard, and vegetable scraps. Next summer, I hope to be able to exhaust my current compost pile so that I can redo it with walls that will stand up better than the current ones. Meanwhile, I'm making more trips to the transfer station than I used to.

I'm afraid that pet food companies, including some of the better ones, are downgrading the quality of their food due to costs.

Tell me, how is a guy supposed to get any work done? Notice that there is a cat bed just to the left of my keyboard and trackpad.

I can tell you from first-hand experience that chickens will most definitely eat dry cat food.

They have five or six heated beds. We keep the heat down slightly lower than they like during the winter, so we compensate with heated beds. Despite this, Ella will do her best to find her way under the comforter on our bed so we'll go into the room sometimes to find a lump in the center of the bed.

Sounds just like my cat. He has two heated beds and yet, sits on top of the floor registers when the heat kicks on, and we too will find a mysterious lump under the comforter on our bed.:D He also likes to lie on the hearth in front of the fireplace when it is on.

I've probably already mentioned this because he's been doing it for a while. When Bubba was a kitten, he would eagerly come to me whenever I spoke to him. He also answers me verbally nearly every time I speak to him. It's like carrying on a conversation. He still does that. However, now when I call him, he doesn't usually come. It's like he has been told that he's a cat, and because cats aren't dogs, he isn't supposed to come when he's called. He wants to come. Everything in his body language tells me that he wants to come. He's a friendly cat, and he's always up for attention.

He knows he'll get the attention he wants if he comes, but it's like he's learned that it's not appropriate to do that because he'll lose his cat card or something. So he will answer me verbally, but not come when I call him. Instead, he will slowly work his way toward me, making it clear that it has nothing to do with my having called him or that he knows darned well that I am asking him to come over to me. It might take him five or ten minutes, but he will eventually find his way over there, although in such a way that he doesn't risk having his cat card revoked.

He knows I am calling him and wants to come, but he can't because he's a cat and cats aren't supposed to do as they're told.

Ummmm..... yes. There is a slight possibility that she may be spoiled, too. :)
