Secret Diary. Do Not Read

Just what I read as a possible source of reactions seen. I don't know if it is true.

 

I've probably mentioned this before but I chose to go with an internal medicine doctor. 3 times they retired on me and I stuck with who they transferred my records to. It's been interesting. I know pretty much what's in my record and I more or less educated them on my health issues. If they forget or don't go back and read my history I remind them. Anything outside of their field they have referred me. It has worked for me for the last 10 years or so.

 

I was told that sow bugs taste like shrimp. Haven't tried them yet.

 

My husband has gone to help our son move salvageable items from his burned house to a storage facility today. That is a 1.5-2 hr drive from here so I don't expect he'll be home until dark. Son and DIL are still trying to decide whether to rebuild their house on that spot or to start fresh in another area.

Our daughter and her husband are building a new house outside of Fort Worth TX; they currently live in Austin. She brought lots of construction photos to Thanksgiving. Their lot is 1.5 acres on a bluff above a lake and the views will be stunning from the house. I told my husband that we should buy one of those lots but he didn't seem very excited about that idea.

Seems like I'm suffering from a lack of enthusiasm lately. I just want to sit and read, or surf the internet. Odd that as we get older, our world begins to shrink. Or maybe that's just me.

 

@Beth Gallagher - oh my did not know the kids house burnt down. Glad they can move and rebuild.

@Hedi Mitchell -- I had to look back in this thread to see when the fire happened; it was November 15 but somehow seems like it was a couple of months ago already. The fire inspector or whatever he is determined that the fire started in an electrical outlet behind the refrigerator. They had an attached garage and the fridge was on the common wall between the kitchen/garage, so it appeared at first that it started in the garage.

The garage did have the most damage since there were a lot of paint thinner and other types of chemicals in there. My son had a ton of tools, including large stuff like a drill press, table saws, etc. and his three bow hunting crossbows among a ton of other stuff. It was all incinerated.

@Tony Page -- I imagine you saw weird stuff like this. My daughter-in-law said that her cast iron dutch oven had cracked into two pieces but a cabinet holding tupperware was largely unscathed. What???

They are still waiting on the cleanup crew to get there and get started and are moving into a rental for the time being.

 

I'm assuming he had insurance, because I wouldn't remove a toothpick until they did a content count, unless the adjusted paid out full content value.

 

They did a content inventory, plus they have stated that he will receive full payout for the house and content. It's going to cost $30,000 for the cleanup.

 

That's about the going rate.

 

I'm whiny. I've had this stupid sinusitis all week; doctor said it's probably viral so just take OTC meds and ride it out. I was in bed all day for the past 2 days. I've used the "nasal irrigation" thing, 2 kinds of nasal spray, eye drops, Tylenol Sinus. I can't recall ever having anything like this before but it is miserable.

I haven't cooked in 4 days; I just mope around and sleep.

 

Sorry things are still tough for you. You may want to try this nasal spray or some other containing xylitol. I know nothing about it, but I have read of people who had success with xylitol sprays when nothing else would work. It is reputed to have anti-viral and antibiotic properties.

 

Yeah, that was recommended by some as xylitol has anti-viral properties. It also reportedly helps avoid the flu. I have no personal experience with it though.

 

How is the sinus infection, girl? @Beth Gallagher Hopefully it is history.
