I apparently joined here a year ago and then left for some reason. I probably got myself into a snit over something, like I often do. I’ll try to do better this time.

I’m 67 and I live alone with my dog and two cats. Due to long term family estrangement, severe depression, and, frankly, I can be a real b, I have (choose to have?) little contact with people, but, boy, that gets lonely.

I’ve tried a few different forums the past month or so, but, people on the internet can sure be nasty! GEEZ! What purpose does that serve? I’ve been reading the discussions here, and haven’t seen any of that nastiness.

My life consists mostly of quilting (my picture is one of my quilts that I posted on another site and the trolls attacked saying it looks like a swastika) and reading.

I hope I can contribute something positive to your community.

Welcome back, @Jan Ahlmann ! I am glad that you decided to give the forum another try. We have a section for animals if you would like to tell us more about your dog and cats and maybe post pictures ?
Even without family estrangement, it seems like the life of a senior is just mainly a lot lonelier than life was back when we were working. Physical bodies do not always work as well as they used to, and we just have less need to go places than when we were going to work every day.

Sharing our lives here on the forum is maybe a lot of the communication that many of us have. We do not always agree with each other, but we are basically a friendly bunch, so just find threads that interest you and join in.
I remember seeing your quilt from before, and it is beautiful !

Well, let's see if she replies.
Maybe I just don't belong on the internet.
    You seem nice. Thank you.

You do not have to engage with people who make you uncomfortable, @Jan Ahlmann . Many of us have a history with other forums, and might have left because of unwelcome drama there; so if this happens to you, just try to ignore that person.
You can also go to their avatar, and click on the ignore button if it is someone whose interaction and posts you wish to avoid.

In reading your intro, I see we have a lot in common. There are times I've felt as though my toes have been stepped on, just as I'm sure others have thought I've done the same to them. After a while, the half-life of hurt gets shorter...but we all have our limits.

Glad you came back. (We all got stories of that other forum.)
