I made some ciabatta buns yesterday so decided to go get the makings for Italian subs. Big mistake. The forecast for tomorrow is sleet/snow (maybe 1") and then ice (maybe 1/10") and then rain (which will wash it all away.)

I swear I'm in Northern Virginia again. People are prepping in anticipation of being housebound for 6 hours at the most.

It's pouring rain and in the mid-60's; very nasty day with wind and black clouds. A cold front will push through later and the temps are supposed to drop into the 40's.

I was reading comments elsewhere saying central Texas is due for some hard overnight freezes later this week. There's a big ol' slug of cold dipping from the north across the entire mid west.

No hard freezes (or even "freezes") predicted for Houston this week.

+12 F. with about 3 inches of new snow overnight. It got up to 32 F. yesterday afternoon. First time it has gotten that warm in a while.

It looked like it was heading right at you.

We nearly always miss the snow events because the cloud cover elevates the temperatures just a degree or two more than anticipated.

In all fairness, mountains and oceans throw curve balls at forecasters. I bet forecasting in the plains states is way more accurate.

1" to 2" of rain tomorrow. In a way, I wish it was colder.

Funny, I don't recall it being that recent.

Even though we are going to end up moving back into Old Man Winter (Carson City/Reno/Sparks area), we definitely didn't know it got THIS cold here. It was 29 this morning at 7AM. Funny, when I told (text) my SIL (wife's older sister) how cold it would be this morning, her response was "will it snow?". I told her "no snow, why are you asking?". Her response was "I like snow, but don't like cold". I told her "now that's weird".

Sure glad we drained the block in our boat and put our new Full Cover on last weekend. Parts of the lake (Lake Mead) the temperature will be at the freezing mark. Both marinas still have many boats in slips. Apparently the owners keep a small heater going by the engine. We do know that each slip has an electrical outlet.

Remember, Ken, this is our first time living here this time of year. After early last year's minus (-) -15 degrees at 7AM and 35 inches of snow where we lived in northern Colorado, we definitely wanted to leave there before the winter of 2023-2024 hit in Oct. Read the monthly temperature averages of Henderson and January was 61high w/low of 39. We've been 10 plus degrees below that lately. The 61/39 isn't to bad, but the 51/29 sure seems colder to us! At least we didn't get rid of any of our winter clothing. That is a very good thing.
