I love shopping online. I've bought furniture, jewelry, perfume, clothing, food...and tons of miscellaneous. I'd rather shop online for nearly everything. I also order from local stores online..then pick it up. Do you still prefer a brick and mortar store or are you willing to search out the Internet for what you want? Tell us how you feel about it..and your best/worst experiences Or any recommendations you might have.
I think buying furniture online was the most fun..and 7 years later I'm still happy with it. I use Amazon for a lot of little things. I found a remote for our ailing garage door opener. I recently ordered a new Bulova watch for my husband from JC Penney..at a very good price. I have sent many gifts from Amazon and love their Amazon Prime. I even get my hair dye from them once a month auto-delivery. I have ordered my makeup from Benefit directly without problem. I buy miscellaneous things to save for gifts. I have had only a couple of problems in all these years..and both were promptly remedied. I'm going to be looking for something nice for my mom for Mother's Day. I've been ordering her flowers the past few years..but I'm going to have fun shopping for something else.
I shop online for gifts for the grandsons in Illinois. I can't remember the last time I actually went into a Toys R Us and bought a toy, wrapped it and took it to the post office to ship for way too much money. Toys are big and heavy. I will order something online if my size is out in the store. They usually have it online. I also buy lots of little things on Amazon, like charger cables, etc. can't be bothered going to the store for that. I sometimes buy food items that I couldn't find in the store, like Quest Bars and Peanut Butter Powder when dieting. Now I see that in some stores though. I've ordered some lipsticks from Sephora and a few other things.
Mix it with some liquid and use it as low calorie PB when I'm really really dieting. I've added it to different things to give them a PB flavor. It's not that great but I was desperate.
Probably the only online shopping I don't do now days is my grocery shopping. Everything else from my prescriptions to Christmas gifts, etc. I shop online for. Today I will be shopping online for air conditioning filters as the last time I bought one filter in a store it cost over $15.00 and that is outrageous to me. I love being able to take my time finding just the right thing online and then having it send straight to my door. The only time this didn't work out was when I ordered our "big' flat screen last year for our living room. I had paid extra for shipping so that I could have it for a certain date...but by the evening of that certain date...there still was no TV. I tracked my shipment online and it showed our TV had been delivered (with no signature needed). It wasn't delivered to us though. When I called the number on the tracking site, a customer service rep wanted me to call Fed Ex and find out who it had been delivered too, but I told them it was their problem to find out where our TV was. And then I had the whole order canceled including the shipping on it. This was on a Friday. The following Tuesday morning there was a knock on our door and a lady stood on our porch and by her side was a large box with our big flat screen! This lady lived across the street from us and Fed Ex had delivered our TV to her, but she worked all weekend and didn't notice it sitting under the eve of her porch until Monday evening. It had rained really hard that weekend too....but the TV box never got wet at all. So after opening the box and checking out the TV and finding everything was just fine with it, I then called and let the store know I finally received it and was going to keep it. They redid the purchase but gave me the shipping free. And we have been perfectly happy with our TV ever since. Shopping online saves me time, money, and my peace of mind.
I feel strange going shopping in stores anymore .. really do! ... other than grocery shopping (and of course, much of that can be done online too) ... most clothing, housewares, perfume/makeup (I love Sephora too), metal art for the walls, furniture and about everything under the sun ... and comparing prices is easier too. Amazon vs the rest. I've bought some strange Internet things ... a big lawn cart, my last lawnmower, a big heavy cedar chest (that only cost $3.95 shipping from Overstock .. I've gotten my down comforters/pillows from them ....... One of these days I might try car shopping online. .. if they'll deliver it to me.
Actually Bonnie...I think they will do that too. At least that's basically the way my youngest daughter got her new mini van the year before last. She found the one she wanted for the price she wanted to pay and then they shipped it to the closest dealership where she lived. She and her husband just went to the dealership where all they test drove and inspected the van then signed on the dotted line and went home with their mini van.
I'm 50-50 on this. I do shop online and like it a lot. I also like to get out of the house once in a while to a store and look around as well as buy what I'm looking for. I enjoy going with a friend as well, and stopping for lunch.
I really don't remember Babs, I would think so because when I diet it's usually low carb and high protein. This was a few years ago when I was trying to lose the 30 lbs I gained after quitting smoking.
The times I do shop in stores are when I'm with my daughter and that to me is my social outing. She shops, I follow and sometimes sit and people watch, then we stop for lunch. I enjoy that because I'm not looking for anything so no pressure.
I love your story and especially the happy ending! My mom just refuses to shop online and likes to go to the stores for her clothes...I buy her clothes online and so far she's loved everything and they fit...lol
