I am making cabbage and corned beef (canned) with onions, spinach, tomatoes, carrots and potatoes. It will be more of a lunch meal than a dinner meal most likely.

Tonight’s tea roast pork and …..time to clean out the fridge …of left over veggies in preparation for going shopping on Tuesday for fresh veg …

Im either getting smarter ….:p With old age ….or just plain lazy cause I cook enough veg to last 2 days, then I only have to either have more of the meat cooked the day before or have a veggies only night ( I like just veggies with gravy )

Sunday today …:):) so shopping day is only 2 days away

When I saw you posting about having oysters for dinner, I knew I should have been there……. I KNEW that ! You would never have had any leftover oysters for today, @John Brunner .
Fried oysters might be my favorite food in the whole world.
We used to have a cafe in Sandpoint that had fried oysters, and when mom and daddy and I went there for dinner, I either had the fried oyters or the fried prawns, and it is hard to say which I enjoyed more.

When I was a kid we camped outside of Ocean City MD. My dad had a small trailer which he parked for the entire summer, so we spent lots of time there. If the tide was coming in, I had crab lines out (chicken necks & sinkers on twine.) We gorged ourselves all summer long on those things. If it was dark when I brought the catch to the campsite, we would keep them overnight and steam them after breakfast. I still love them (although the price has gone through the roof.)

Regarding oysters: for a period of time, one of my younger brothers (now deceased) had a weekly meeting that brought him closer to where I lived, so we would get together for dinner at various places. A rare treat was to have oysters at Hooters. I was surprised at how good the quality was for a place that's famous for its bar food. We had them raw, fried and smoked. That was likely 20 years ago. I hate to think of what they would cost these days.

So Friday I went to a local been-there-forever diner for lunch just to get out of the house, and the waitress told me that they had received some fresh oysters from the Rappahannock River (empties into the Chesapeake Bay.) I ordered the oyster special without thinking to ask the price. Let's just say that I paid dearly. But they were good. (The cook is schooled enough that he's made escargot in an Alfredo sauce so his coworkers could try it.) It's a once-a-year treat for me, and the serving was enough to make 2 meals out of.

I had a bad day with muscle cramping today so we had scrambled eggs, sausage and toast for dinner. I'm whiney.
