More absurd virtue-signaling from a business. Did the Bud Light fiasco not teach them anything?? Nothing like excluding an entire race from a baking competition to foster an atmosphere of inclusion! And yes, I have purchased my last bag of KA flour, plus I unsubscribed from their email list and sent them an email expressing my disdain which I'm sure was a waste of time but it made me feel better.
I want to send them an email, but need to make sure it's constructive. This sucks. I just tried their pizza flour that Walmart carries, and really like it. And I've always preferred their bread flour. Everyone discriminates in order to end racism. dammit
I'd boycott them if not for the fact that I've never bought their stuff anyhow. That being the case, they probably wouldn't notice my boycott.
I see the information has been taken off the KA website with some blurb that says "due to overwhelming response, blah, blah." Yeah, right. Probably not the response they were hoping for. https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/pitchfest
It was in my "recommended" feed on youtube. I suppose because I search for KA recipes which I won't be doing any longer.
How do you guys keep track of all the things you won't ever do again? Spreadsheets? "Is there a single business owner who desperately wanted to enter this competition, but was crushed to discover that they couldn’t? Anything’s possible. Sometimes you’re just not eligible to enter one specific competition. It happens to literally everybody." — JULIA GLASSMAN
I have been reading about this on Twitter, and just looked at it from their website. It appears to me that this is a special thing that KA is doing just for black history month, and not just as general competition. Since the month is set aside for black history, it seems to me that having a black-only baking contest is different than just doing it to show they are an against white bakers. I think that this might affect their sales this month, but people will probably go back to KA if they do not keep showing racial discrimination.
Well, who didn't think this was next in the whole race thing?? No longer wanting equality so history repeats itself only now whites will be the slaves
Yep, they realized the flung dung, best do a whole "factory reset" if they want to save their business
That company is in Vermont?? Guess things are different than I thought in Vermont. I always think of snow, beautiful countryside with lots of neat, old Church-buildings, and Maple Syrup. Isn't that Bernie's State?
