And free literature & registration forms for Weight Watchers will be handed out. https://www.yahoo.com/news/airline-start-weighing-passengers-voluntarily-152105751.html
Does anyone remember when that was routine? During the old propeller plane days, I remember they weighed passengers and you were seated according to weight in order to balance the plane properly. When jets arrived, that was no longer necessary due to the increased power. Sometimes you will see that in old movies.
I also saw that in a "Twilight Zone" episode - "To Serve Man." (I crack me up) https://aliens.fandom.com/wiki/Kanamit
I think they should weigh the carry-ons instead. A 70-year old 5 foot tall woman trying to put a 60 pound carry-on into an overhead bin is ridiculous!
I couldn't care less. I have no plan to ever set foot on an airplane again. Nothing I want to see badly enough to fly again.
Unfortunately we have no choice if we want to go anywhere in less than a week each way. Even travel within a state that is only 1/4 served by roads makes us rely on airlines.
Well then I guess you need to get on Weight Watchers with Oprah so you can be svelte and ready to be checked as baggage!!
They do weigh carry on in Aust before your allowed to walk down the passage way to the plane , and last time we traveled to Queensland they even insisted on weighing the bottle of water we had @Don Alaska Once we could take a laptop / 7 kg take on ….…not 100% sure but from what others have said it’s 7 kg in total now days
I didn't know that @Kate Ellery but it isn't a bad idea. I haven't been to Australia since 2008, but I don't remember it happening then. Do you know when it started?
The last time we traveled on Jetstar it was 2019 , that’s when we discovered we had to include any foods or drinks in the total weight allowed to be taken on board . I’m in full agreement with the limits …. ( or be forced to pay more ) greedy / stretch the limit / overhead locker jammers who don’t leave any room for other passengers carry on , have caused this Back …then ….last time , we flew to Gold Coast Jetstar added a orange tag or sticker to each and every bit of carry on luggage @Don Alaska Where did you go in Aust ? Did you visit South Aust ?
Does your handbag count towards the 7kg carry-on? Starter fare includes a baggage allowance of two carry-on items weighing up to a combined 7kg. Your two items might be 1 main item + 1 small item. Your small item includes items such as a handbag or thin laptop bag and must fit under your seat.
If they are weighing passengers, I think I approve. Sometimes people of girth have to buy an extra ticket. They might be insulted but weight is an important consideration in flight. Also, I have always found it uncomfortable when someone spills over into my already limited seat area. And I am not skinny, but I fit in it.
Haven't there been lawsuits from those who require more than one standard seat? I wonder how this one will fly.
Between people with their own zip code encroaching on my space and "emo" support animals, I'd rather stay home.
