Never ever owned any boats, although had the pleasure of sailing in the 1,000 Islands in Ontario, Canada. Then took Ferry boats in the Maritimes, Québec on trips. Home in Scotland, it's ferries galore. However, we'd hope to rent a boat for a day's sailing on The Clyde in our retirement. As husband passed away in 2022, that plan is now scuppered. Afterall, he was the Naval specialist. Granted, I know how to drive, but on land and not on water... Fishing growing up was a huge Spring/Summer feature. I got a heavy 13 pounder fish, known as a Largemouth Bass. As Papa owned the "Fishing/Hunting" License, he won the trophy and his name was put on it. Sadly, it was sent back when he died. No memories of my triumphant fishing moment at 7 years old. Bummer! The best and funniest time we had fishing with Papa and Gramps. It was our last time altogether as Gramps died the summer of 69. Gramps had funky fishing lines, with weights and hooks, about 2 feet apart. Learned how to get fresh bait on each, a total of 3 lines, so roughly 30. Then, how to cast those lines to reach the other side of the lake. Man that was the best catch of Catfish ever. Nighttime by the fire, hearing stories of yesteryear while waiting for fish to bite!
Where do you catch all those beautiful fish? Tex, what part of the country? Pretty water in the photo above. I would filet that fish, and do some hush puppies too.
I guess, Tex doesn't want to share that fishing hole. About time for me to charge the boat batteries again, and run the motor; to get it back out on water soon. Need to put a power trim system on it, that way I won't have to manually lift the engine. I've seen a few that will work. Like this one; maybe.
We have all three of our batteries (dual for the engine/one for the electric winch) in our apartment closet and keep all charged up with a 12 amp charger. Fairly soon we will be getting ours ready to put hose/outdrive muffs on to start engine. If it starts, will try to launch onto Lake Mead. That is, if water level is high enough at the ramp. If not, will be getting everything ready to sell boat/trailer. Even with the electric winch, it's getting harder and harder to launch/retrieve this 20 foot Cuddy Cabin. We have a power trim system, but ours in an I/O (inboard/outboard). We had to replace our power trim fluid reservoir a few years ago. It was leaking pretty bad.
"Always got something to fix".........you sure are right there! We have folder after folder of repair invoices and Excel spreadsheets from all the way back to April 2009. And, I do mean "every repair invoice".
