I know what you mean, @Cody Fousnaugh. It's pretty safe where we are, too, here in eastern Washington state.
Wasn't Costa Rica a retirement haven for those with the leisure time and disposable cash, few or no children, etc. to stay for long vacations while they were still working? I got the idea that it became a mess, with high crime causing retirees to flee behind walled communities and venturing outside them with a good deal of apprehension and caution. Many finally bailed out and came back to the US in search of safety, stability, and the kinds of health care and general support infrastructure needed as they aged further. Coat yourself in honey and flaunt its aroma and the ants will find you.
Jenna the main thing is no crime, and I feel that it will only get worse with the whole third world moving in with no job, no education and our resources are dwindling. When people assimilated, we mostly got along, now they want the freedom and benefits but not the laws or culture. Of course, I'm not going anywhere and if I left it would be to a tropic or sub-tropic island. But younger people would be better oof going someplace further north near the water ,imo..
Okay. I'm not sure where there would be no crime. I agree that things are getting pretty strange, though.
Jenna some places are just too cold for crime,. Where I was talking about a good place would be there are only 2,500 people living there and most were born there. Of course, nobody's going anyplace. I do like the couple in a video I've watched 2 years or more. I do like the forest and water. Not the cold,
Australia. They are English speaking and it would all be new to me. They seem like decent and fun loving folks.
There are videos on YouTube of people living in the far-far-far north of Mongolia, up in the snow. They seem to deal with it well, spending a lot of time melting snow for water and cooking. I guess it works for them, but not my scene. Here's a link: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=people+living+in+Mongolia
I wouldn't want to go to Mongolia, any more than I'd want to go to Northern China, nor do I think I'd be welcome there.
I’m not going. The US is the last best place and if we have failed here no other people or place is going to succeed either. if I moved anywhere it would be Wyoming, Texas or maybe Alaska. We almost moved to Idaho years ago and it would have been a good choice. At my age I will just ride it out here.
