I wonder who was taking the videos. If I were in the torch, looking down during an earthquake, the LAST thing I would be doing would have been pulling out my phone to take a video.
As I recall, they are checking them pretty regularly. They re-did the torch in my younger days and the arm was closed for a lonnnnng time.
The George Washington bridge is indeed inspected quite a bit but it was first opened to traffic in 1931 so with that in mind, I’m sure that the MTA assigned the A-Team to inspect the structure after the quake.
It says "Earth Cam" in the lower right hand corner, so I "assume" the videos were made from those surveillance-type fixed cameras.
