What city and/or state would you never live in? No matter what the situation, where would you never move to? Today there are so many young folks that are moving around to find that perfect job and environment.
I would never move to any large city like N.Y. or Chicago. I would never move to any state that has a lot of nasty weather, like the cloudy and wet Pacific northwest or a place with frequent tornadoes or hurricanes.
"Never say never" can happen, but many times, people don't do what they think they shouldn't. I was asked to move back to Indiana and didn't do it. To this day, I'm glad I didn't. For one thing, and a very big thing to me, I would've never met my wife and, moving back would've changed my life way to much. Another thing, Marie, we don't go by "blue" or "red" states. We just aren't that "politically" minded.
Glad you didn't move and found love. I'm sure the way things are going it won't matter much longer politics or no politics, probably already doesn't.
And here I thought replies would be like: Montana, Wyoming, North or South Dakota, Oklahoma, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Texas. Not necessarily because of weather, which would be a good reason, but because of parts of each state is farming and/or ranching. Like, the smell of livestock or the sound of farm equipment being used. One thing we miss about where we use to live is Centennial Livestock Auction in Fort Collins, CO.. We went there a number of times just to watch cattle and sheep being sold. When the wind direction was right, we could smell livestock manure at our apartment complex. Didn't bother either of us at all. There is nothing like that where we currently live, but there is in Carson City and Fallon, Nevada. IOW, "oh how we miss that smell", seriously.
In the spring here there are tanker trucks taking the liquid manure to spread on the fields now that we have a few 'industrial' farms. This year, there seems to be an inordinately large number driving around. We affectionately call it that good old dairyaire. The places you just mentioned are too dry for me.
I would not want to live in a large city, even Huntsville is larger than I would like; but we only need to travel a small part of it to go anywhere we need to go. I don’t want to live in the snow and cold again, however, I spend most of the time inside the house, even here in the South; so I guess it would not matter if there was snow outside as long as I had a warm place to live and did not have to go out and tramp around in the snow and shovel it like I used to have to do when I lived in Idaho. I feel really isolated here, and I would like to live in an apartment complex somewhere that i could socialize with other people my age, wherever that was at.
I have never been, nor will ever be, a city kid although I enjoyed Milwaukee back when it was a big small town. Laverne and Shirley days. I have always been thankful to be able to live in less populated areas. I don't mind the cold as long as I have warm clothes and can get warm when I come in. My fear is if the shtf that might not be so easy.
