My Jerusalem artichokes have not started to come up yet, but probably will sprout this month. I am going to try and get some when they first come up and transplant into a large container, and then this fall I can harvest some from the container. I just started reading a book about foraging by Sergei Boutenko, the son of Victoria Boutenko, who wrote the Green For Life book. Sergei has a lot of videos on foraging, and I think that I want to learn more about the plants that are growing in my yard. Amazon had it on sale for $1.99, so I bought it ! I used to have that “Picture this” plant identifier app, but it was expensive, so I didn’t renew my subscription. Now, I see that they not only tell you about flowers, but other plants as well, and specifically for foraging. I do not know if that is a new feature or not, but now I am thinking about renewing my subscription again and using it out in the back yard to identify plants growing out there.
This is a local weed that no one pay attention to but should. It has the ability to brake up kidney stones its nick name is Stone breaker or Chanca Piedra it grows here in the DR. I have started a little garden of them so I can dry them and make capsule for alternative medicine.
I bought a bottle of those for my supplement cache. I was hoping it might work on calcium deposits elsewhere but haven't found info. ????
From what I read, Chanca Piedra is alkaline, so may work on the acidic (oxylate) component of kidney stones. Calcium is an alkali, so I assume CP would have no effect on it.
Kidney stones are calcium removed from the blood. What it is doing in the blood is to make the PH of the blood fall into the correct amount which has to be very tight range. Where did the body get that calcium is from the bones and teeth. So when the doctors see high levels of calcium in the blood they tell you to stop consuming calcium the direct opposite to what you need to do. Increase your alkaline diet with calcium. So you can restore the calcium in the bones and teeth.
There have been times that I've found doctors as 'useful as tits on a bull'. Although if I ever get hit by a bus, or a bull, I would be grateful they are there.
I will agree that is what they are good at and surgery when needed. I have a lot of doctor friends and I will use them for diagnosis because they have the labs and equipment to do that. After that I do a search through their research to find a cure lots of times the doctor does not know what the research says. Then I cure myself.
Chanca Piedra Latin name is Phyllanthus niruri and the NIH web site has 1193 different studies on that plant. Some very interesting https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/?term=Phyllanthus+niruri
