Biden just drained the last of the oil reserves and stated he WILL NOT refill. I am so glad I bought an adult trike to get to the farm. Unfortunately it is all uphill on the way back.:(

I have been seeing more and more advertisements for the battery powered electric trikes and bikes, and i think that more people, maybe especially seniors with the trikes, are moving to doing this instead of driving a car everywhere.
I would do fine with one, I think, except I have several busy streets near here that i would either have to cross, or ride down the street. Most grocery stores are located on busy streets, so that makes it harder to travel in something smaller than a car, too.

I also wonder how long it takes to charge up a battery, and what the batteries cost. And what happens when it rains?

The electric stuff isn't terrible as long as it isn't your only means of travel. Hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires, and terrorism or hacks can all take down the grid. If the grid goes down, you can't get away unless you have alternative transportation. If you get caught in a traffic jam during an evac, you are screwed, especially if you have to use the A/C or heat.

My daughter has a Rivian 'spl' and I dislike that car for many reasons, not safe in major cities first off, where people wait at power stations to rob you. She is back and forth with 4 kids twice daily to school, plus oldest girl on ball team,
I just got off the phone with her a few minutes ago, she was down to 7 miles, was at a power station " wait was an HOUR".
A woman in gas powered car BACKED into the station next to her, although many stations available.
She told me the woman was acting strange, daughter got back into her car left so did the woman.
To begin with there is no way solar, windmills will support all the demands coming once they get rid of petro.
I ask daughter to please get rid of that danger magnet. Home power bill increased too.
I do know service stations are also dangerous with car jackings but not as isolated plus no extra-long waiting times.
IfI had to use EV it would be hybrid only.

I like battery powered in some things, like golf cart, only have to change batteries every 8 to 10 years. I'd also like to have a bike like that.

Actually, I think that did happen. There were steam-powered cars and battery-powers cars in the early 20th century that were both replaced by internal combustion vehicles.

Electric preceded the internal combustion engine by about a year.

Yeh, Faye Fox talked about that and had come up with diesel replacement idea for now.

It seems that thieves in Houston have realized that there's valuable copper in the cables that EV Charging Stations use. So they've been cutting them off and stealing them. I wonder how long it will take until word gets around.

Copper cables must be big business in Houston. Thieves have shut down our Comcast services twice in the last 6 months with cable theft. Also big are catalytic converter thefts.
