I juat peeked at a search site for these pix. Different info. On a youtube site, yukon doit said that they only occur up north there. I picked on up on the road, Thought my daughter would like to taxiderm it but even picking up a dead one is illegal here. It was smaller than the reds around here but a little less grey than the pix. It's the only one I ever saw in the flesh.

Maybe …I should have named it differently due to the pets NOT being our pets …. but pets we look after on a fairly regular basis .
Not real sure what category it should come under
if I tried to make it a seperate thread to our own pets
These pets become ..ours on a part time basis but cost us $0000
    @Yvonne Smith
Maybe @John Brunner or @Ken Anderson
could advise if I continue on this thread or make one under housesit pets

Same here. We are dog people and really miss having a little dog in the house, but I just don't feel that I am up to caring for a dog.

I really have a hard time choosing my favorite pet. I liked them all. And I have had a lot and a lot of species.
The one that comes to mind the most is Emma. The softest tempermented dog ever. She was a little white fluffy American Eskimo crossed with a sheltie and considered everyone's aura in her interactions, even if she was afraid. We had to put her down two years ago
Anyway, she stands out because I was coming in from the garage a few months ago and there she was by the washing machine--and then she wasn't.
    Just a gentle hello.
Maybe I was HER favorite pet.;)

He’s one of the sweetest pets we’ve ever taken care of , he’s old, and he’s moving right up neat the top of Australia next month so sadly this is the last time we will get to spend time with him as he will be more than 3.000 km away from South Aust, altho we’ve been invited to come up to Darwin it’s not my favourite place to visit , it’s the same temperature everyday of the year however…. they have very humid weather …and crocodiles

This is my favorite time to be here. Spring. things are green, flowering and budding out. I have no crocodiles but some snakes, mostly non poisonous. But when you pull a tarp off the garden and 10 or fifteen go slithering away, it can make you jump.
Sorry you are losing your buddy.:(

Well, they are not necessarily my favorite pet but I have another chicken in my house.
My broody hen was off and running this morning with three chicks in tow. She is an odd critter and left nine eggs in the nest. One had a breathing hole pipped in the shell but it was cool to the touch. I broke it open and the chick inside was still breathing so I brought it home to put in my incubator. It took a while to come around but it is cheeping now. The rest of the eggs were all bad. A couple had embryos but no where near ready.
The trick to introducing chick to mom is to wait till night time and tuck it in from the rear. It is only 2pm now:confused:

Is that unusual to have an entire clutch of eggs fail like that?

What happens is that other chickens lay their eggs with the clutch while the hen is off the nest. If they are layed several days after the incubation begins, they will fail.
