While a couple may have been created since the union, the others are the ones who refused, or were refused, when the churches joined.
Catholic bishops in Africa released a similar statement when the current Pope said they should bless gay couples living together. They simply refuse to comply.
I made it through about 15 seconds. They are serving themselves and their own worldly pleasures and nowhere near serving God.
It's one thing to have me read (and type) a comment that this is how speakers are required to introduce themselves, and it's quite another to actually witness not only the gobbledygook come from their mouths, but the smile on the faces of the leaders in what is supposed to be a Christian denomination's global conference. I wonder what percentage are caught up in their own delusion, and what percentage is consciously promoting evil.
I felt badly that so many of our Catholic Churches closed or joined into on building because of lack of attendance. Now I don't fell badly at all. I left long ago but was raised Catholic. I went to have my first child baptised and was refused because I was not a member yet. Then I had to sign a paper requiring me a specific tithe to have my daughter's immortal soul saved. Since we had no money at the time, 10% seemed a bargain but it was wrong.
Probably true. As far as I know, the Pope himself only gets the income from one special collection called Peter's Pence. The churches are assessed just as they are in the UMC, or at least were when I was a part. The assessments are used to support the entire huge bureaucracy that is the Catholic Church and the Bishops have a lot of control over that. I have no idea how much actually gets to the Vatican.
Things are different up here @Mary Stetler. Many services are presided over by deacons, not priests as there are not enough to cover all the small parishes here, especially in rural area. My wife's home church in Iowa was closed not because of low attendance, but due to the fact they couldn't pay to support the Catholic school. There was good attendance, but it was mostly elderly who had gone there their entire lives. All the children were grown and moved away. The bishop was a greedy fool. We have a new priest overseeing things in the little church I attend, and he is not the best I have dealt with. It doesn't affect me as I am not a member, but my wife is the administrator, so I get to hear all the stupid stuff he does.
I need some Real Hard Proof....and as my dear long time Jewishj friend used to say":: No one has ever come back to tell me a Truth....
I took one person's observation and ran with it. Apparently there was one rogue SB pastor who got dismissed. Another commenter pointed out that Rick Warren's Saddleback Church was expelled from the SBC for putting women pastors at the pulpit (I've verified this to be true.) So there is no large-scale (or even small-scale) issue with Southern Baptists.
