It could be our longevity. Our mother was born 100 years ago, and she had cataracts when she hit her 70s. The number of people affected could merely be the largest generation that's ever existed getting old. So I doubt [but am not certain] that it's our current diet or government poisoning program.
Could that be because we're living longer? Given that cataracts develop and worsen with age, it might be reasonable to accept that people living into their 80s and 90s might have a greater incidence of cataracts than would a population that dies in their 40s.
I've always worn eye protection and a lot in my life have gotten cataracts much younger...... The eye doc changes her tune on the dx and what can be done and the COSTS which would be my responsibility and I don't want 1000's of debt at this point... Just don't forget docs are IN BUSINESS... and want to profit as much as possible.... ;
I saw a fuzziness around the ceiling lights. Then I cut out sugar which means breads ,cereals, pasta, rice and white potatoes. (simple carbs he considers in the sugar group) And be sure you get N acetyl carnosine not n acetyl cysteine -- both are called NAC.
My ophthalmologist told me to take Omega 3. -200mg DHA -400mg EPA Some websites say "Many studies have found evidence that dietary intake of omega-3 fatty acids is associated with a decrease in the risk of developing cataracts." An NIH article says "No conclusive evidence."
Well, my sister, at least one of my brothers and my hubby had cataracts and surgery. I had the start of one and it cleared up when I went totally off sugar and refined carbs. But not sure I have the willpower to maintain.
I wish more mothers were educated about the damage caused by the sun. You see so many babies sitting in prams/strollers with the sun in their eyes. This is the main cause of cataracts. Wearing sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat is not eccentric...it's sensible.
Here is Dr. Berg on Cataracts: I'm so resisting the surgery and would like to go to my end and no "cat" surgery.

The 2.5 NAC arrived and I started with it today...I hear both positive and otherwise on it....so much is about us and our Systems....I believe more and more.
I would like to revive this thread a bit. If any have had the surgery, what was your experience? Did you have the "traditional" with a diamond blade or the "improved" method with a laser? I have had friends that had both and the laser folks seem to be happiest but the optometrist I see recommends the traditional as says the recovery time it quicker. Any opinions? Those of you who have used homeopathic or "natural" methods, have you had success?
I've ceased using the 2.5 NAC but working with other cataract remedies and mostly are homeopathic....I've read it can take 6 months or so for good results....I'm into 2 months....I'm just so unwilling to do the eye surgery....many reasons...
