I, for one, was not trying to complain. My only worry is that my second home here will go down and not be able to get back up.
Also……. Some of you may not have been here when we experienced an unexpected downtime because of the servers a couple of years ago…… but SOC has a Facebook page. So, if the forum does go offline with no warning, or it takes a while for Ken to get it back up and working again, you can leave messages, or check other people’s messages on the facebook page, if you have facebook. I think that you can see the page even if you do not have a facebook account, but cannot leave a message if you are not a facebook member.
This is the Facebook link: https://www.facebook.com/seniorsonlyclub/ And you can access it without a Facebook account. If you forget the link address, just search on Facebook Seniors Only Club.
It looks like the move is going to take place this weekend, probably Saturday, but I don't have the specifics yet. That should take care of our resource problems, too. See my previous post.
So is the forum going to be a different looking forum ? I remember when forum X moved it was entirely different
Initially, it will look the same. At some point, however, after everything has been moved successfully, I will upgrade to a new version of Xenforo. At that point, it is likely to look different and will probably have some new features.
I don't know if it's going to happen. Although he said he wanted to do it this weekend, he still hasn't given me the nameserver information that I need to refer traffic to a new server.
Well, it didn't happen again this week. This has happened before; after months of receiving no responses, I will hear from someone who promises to put us on the right track again after several years, giving me a date to expect to hear from someone. That date is usually followed by several months of not hearing from anyone. It is clear that they don't care about having us as a client but are leaving me with no other alternatives, given that we can't move our data to another web host without having access to the database. Since they don't care about keeping us as a customer, they could pull the plug and be done with it. The only thing that differs this time is that I received an apology for nothing being done this week, with a promise of next week, so I am hesitantly optimistic.
