I’ve been here 9 years in December as well , congratulations Shirley ….and Louise would be very close to same time as Shirley on here .
Beautiful pictures, Kate. Kate and Louise, doesn't it seem like just yesterday that we joined here? I'm busy making cucumber pickles today but Cody has a birthday tomorrow and I wanted to wish him happy birthday. I'm going to play just a few games before I have to go.
Coolangatta Queensland @Louise Miller https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coolangatta The way we traveled here by car is 2,300 km or 1500 miles We stopped off half way for 3 nights due to severe storms in New South Wales ….but normally it would take us 3 days to drive here from home
That is quite the distance away... Looks like you drove many hours every day.. 700km daily is a very long day behind the wheel.. By the time you get home from a vacation, you need a vacation....
I found this amazing, After reading some of the articals this below here caught my eye,,,Kate.. "On 18 August 1846, while Steel was ashore, a south-east gale blew up. Steele's boat was damaged while getting through the surf and he watched from the beach as the gale intensified. Eventually, the prisoners were freed and all hands abandoned ship and swam for shore as the anchors dragged. The ship parted its anchors and washed ashore near what was later called Coolangatta Creek. The survivors walked 70 miles (110 km) north to Amity Point in six days, fed each night by different groups of friendly indigenous Australians, and were taken into Brisbane on board the Tamar. Can only imagine how those survivors made it back in 6 days! WOW!!
Yep the ocean gets pretty rough around here m if we walk up in a big hill that called Danger point you will find several brass plaques for surfers who’ve drowned trying to catch that big wave https://www.destinationgoldcoast.co...old-coast/things-to-do/point-danger-au0393794 as well what you mentioned Louise ship wrecks , where we are going to stay mid July for 4 nights is 30 km north of here , called surfers paradise, it’s got huge waves and you can hear the ocean roaring at times
