    Good evening to all-

Of course, it's a gun that killed two kids and two teachers in Georgia today. Of course, the killer could have used a pencil or a rock or any number of things to do his killing, but he used a gun. Guns make it so easy to kill, don't you see.
. So, I expect that we will just let this shooting go by like we have done so many times before because it is more important that no person should not be able to possess any kind of firearm he or she desires- that right of gun possession is so much more important than the lives of kids and teachers, at least according to some people..

But how would you feel if the dead kids were your grandchildren? Would those guns you love so much be enough for you to pass over the death of your loved ones?

Too many guns. Too many crazy people. Too many guns in the hands of crazy people.

you all be safe and keep well- Ed

What always amazes me is that all of these people who own guns, why don't we see them coming to the aid of people getting killed? Where are they when we need someone with a gun to kill murderers.

The shooter is a minor- question is- how and why did he have access to any weapons at all?

Some of the info in the thread that I posted has turned out to be in error. Truth is important so I have removed the info and link to the story.

    Good morning to all-

Ms. Bloom- I posted that previous message, and I too hope your post and mine will not be merged.
We see this present unacceptable situation with different eyes.
I see guns and crazy people with guns as the problem. You, apparently, see the problem as a breakdown in the system of warning and protection.

As long as angry, crazy, vicious people have such access to firearms, this thing will keep happening again and again.

If you can figure out a way to control crazy people, then I'll back off from my position of knowing that there are too many guns, too easy to get.

you all be safe and keep well- Ed

Winder, Ga, is about 20 miles west of our town in the same Congressional district. After redistricting by the Republican State Legislature, Mike Collins is now our representative to Congress.

Irresponsible storage by ignorant parents in denial of their kids' mental issues.
Antidepressants that come with a waring, "This drug can cause suicidal and homicidal tendencies" prescribed like candy.

I wish it was that simple. With crime everywhere & not much being done about it, I wouldn't consider being defenseless.
Yes, guns do make it easy to kill. That's exactly why I have them. If I'm attacked in my home by thugs who are 50 years younger than I am, nothing else will improve my chances of survival. At 71, I'm not stupid enough to physically fight with intruders. I refuse to be at the mercy of a criminal.
And a gun does nothing without a HUMAN hand wrapped around it amd a HUMAN brain controlling it.

How would you suggest these homeowners handle these situations?

    Mr. Nathanson-

Judging from your post, you must live in a pretty dangerous and desperate place. I must say that where I live, crime is not "everywhere" but perhaps that's just one of advantages of living in rural Alabama.
I'm sorry you apparently have to worry about thugs coming into your home to attack you. I've never had that problem.

And you are absolutely correct and precise when you say "A gun does nothing without a human hand wrapped around it." And that's the problem now, isn't it? That human hand just might be an angry, crazy teenager who wants to be noticed and get his moments in the spotlight. It might be a young child who picks up his parent's unsecured gun and does what he sees on TV. Or it might be an elderly person who mistakes someone honestly coming to his porch to make a delivery. these happen, and they happen often.

And just so you don't assume I am a prissy "Oh, my. Guns are all Baaad!" sort of person, I have used guns quite often to eliminate feral dogs, coyotes, and other pests bothering my livestock when I ran cattle and such. I know guns, and I know what they do.

And I have not led a particularly sheltered and protected life- I've been in a lot of interesting and some would say serious situations. And not in a single one of these situations would my having a gun have made the situation in any way better. I realize from my many posts on this forum that those who love guns more than the breath of life itself, will not pay me any attention. so be it. but that won't stop me from telling the truth.

Too many guns. Too many crazy people. Too many crazy people with guns.

you all be safe and keep well- Ed

I don't live in a dangerous place. I'm fortunate to live in a nice place with many celebrities as neighbors. Things have changed. The house next door to me was owned by an owner of an NBA team. An elderly couple living there were beaten & hospitalized during a home invasion robbery. (they were defenseless, of course). The owner sold the house for 5.8 million & the new owner installed high security gates; the house is not visible from the street now.
And, yes - there are too many crazy people with guns - along with a pathetic revolving-door criminal justice system that is focused on the costs of inmate upkeep & prison overcrowding, while having no concern whatsoever about the public's safety.

This is a tired subject that will continue to be debatable until the end of time. As always, people kill people and will continue until the end of time. We live in a tiny Mayberry type of town - literally. However I personally am not dumb enough to think- Oh it cant happen here - BS. It can happen in the blink of an eye-anywhere.

The last few of these mass shootings have all been done by the transgender guys who decided to be females. Something is happening with this, because I don’t think it made the trans people this violent before.
Maybe some drug they are giving them ?

I can not understand why this person’s parent would buy a 14 year old child an AR-15 rifle , even if they didn’t have mental issues, and definitely not when they obviously did have them.
He has also apparently been seen with the same ex-FBI guy that some of the other shooters had been known to be with.

Liberals are the ones saying that guns should be taken away from responsible gun-owners, but the mass shooters are now all liberals, Harris supporters, and trans antifa people.
