We had a couple days where the low temps were near a record (61F). The leaves on the poplar trees are starting to turn. I figured the worst of summer was over. Nope. Predicted two days in the upper nineties this week. I'm not doing a doggone thing outside until this heat is over. Fortunately we're in another dry spell so the grass isn't growing. I think I've only mowed 5 or 6 times all summer.
We are back up in the 90’s again this week, so we have been out in the backyard pool again. Looks like until this weekend, we can do that. The nights have been cooler though, and it is starting to get that fall kind of feeling in the early mornings now. Maybe rain this weekend, and we need some !
I understand there a a power use warning or something out for much of the U.S. due to heat and AC use. I don't know why they can't just get the Sun to shine brighter or the wind to blow harder and more constantly. That should solve the problem. I wonder if they are charging the EVs?
We have a line of storms moving through the region that have dumped up to 3" of rain in the course of a couple of hours. Flash Flood warnings have been issued in some regions (not around my home.) There are a bunch of creeks all over the county, some very near me. A few years ago a guy tried to drive his truck where the road was flooded over by a creek. He could see his home on the other side of it. The water swept his truck away & he drowned.
I’m going to use a 4 letter word here. SNOW west of Denver and over 11,000 feet. It’s just a skiff and will be gone soon but it’s time to start getting ready. I love the seasons.
With all the fear news on the internet, I often worry about winter. No sure I could walk to the farm efficiently and hate putting everything on daughter. But I keep remembering old movies with no insulation in the cabins etc and thinking how much better and easier we have it. Little House On the Prairie comes to mind too. The book relates winter well.
Sunny and in the 70s again after a good string of the same, then some clouds and rain Saturday, and then another string of sunny 70s again predicted. Fairly typical this time of year.
We had snow down to about 3000 feet over the weekend, but it is now gone, at least near me. I love the seasons, too, @Vada Bloom but I wish our summer were a little warmer and longer
A bit of rain to relieve the drought I think they predicted the worst hurricane season in history with 26 named storms or something like that. Instead it has been one of the calmest seasons in recent history. I hope your power stays on @Beth Gallagher
It's dropping down into the 40s at night and the 50s during the day. Where the hell is that global warming they promised us?
T hat is what we are getting too, @Ken Anderson with copious amounts of rain. I am certain that if it were not so rainy we would have already had a frost or two. When the rain stops, it will freeze then go to the dreaded 4-letter word that begins with SN
