It's hydraulic fluid and manual 8 speed, with 2 reverses, and not sure about how much diesel it will use yet, filling it once, so far, will see how long or how much; will let you know. Sounds like you've been at it for "awhile" now with yours since 2010, is yours a Kubota too? I've run a lot of different tractors over the years, in construction, so I'm familiar with them. Like front end loaders, krane with my father, lots of tractors, backhoes, and forklifts, etc.

It's been awhile for me, though, so I'm slowly getting familiar with what this Kubota is, and what it can do. It does have a lot of power the way they set it up; it impressed me. Bet yours is a "power house'', too. Took me awhile to find the dipstick for the oil, on it; it's on the front lower front end of the engine, and has a site glass on left side of tranny, for hydraulic fluid, he has it all full; and he told me when he delivered to me, I do; fill free to say, you should be able to get anywhere from 5 to 8 years service, out this tractor, without ever turning a wrench on it. Real nice man, he is.

I've always liked that song, since I was a kid; "Beth". Figure I will heed Maries advice; and take a day off. Here's the song. not trying to be all music; "threadie here", but just this once.

Yeh, mine's a Kobota. I don't think Kubota puts manuals on their website...you gotta buy one if you want it. It looks like yours has a mid-PTO so you can drive a belly mower.

I've bought several attachments off of Craigslist at real good prices: bottom plow, cultivator, box blade, post hole digger. When I bought the tractor I got a belly mower, front end loader, roto tiller, and backhoe all financed with it. As I said, I later bought a new landscape rake and a boom pole. I've wanted a bush hog but lots of folks have said that when you buy used you're taking a risk. I've not wanted to spend the money for new.

@John Brunner , I just noticed your tractor picture has a boat looks like ours in the yard, Ours is a 1978 Jon boat.
Do you use your tractor for clearing too,
Some things Jake has to back in over because going forward can be a problem.

I will check about getting a manual for it, thanks. You said you got that post hole digger for 50 bucks; that's a good deal.

Neat but since our neighbor lost his leg using post hole digger, they scare me.
Of course, the poor old farmer lost his property once the " UN-INSURED" neighbor sued him.
Our putting up fence days are over. But if you still have fencing to do I'm sure that is a handy tool, especially if you know how to use it safely.

I don't have a bush hog. It's the one attachment I've not yet bought, mainly because I've been told to shy away from used ones (and I'm cheap.) I've not really needed it because the place was cleaned up before I moved in. But now the tree line is encroaching into the yard.

I think most folks back their bush hog in when they're cutting back encroachment into their yards & fields. You cannot (and should not) drive the smaller tractors over saplings & such, so you gotta back in and take 5' wide bites out of things, then pull forward, move over, and back in again. Lather/rinse/repeat. Wide-open overgrown fields are another matter.

The guy on the adjoining farm has commercial-level ag equipment and has a "bat wing" bush hog:

    bat wing bush hog.jpg

These are two bush hogs, each of which extends beyond the tractor's wheel width. So he can bush hog the sides of our right-of-way as he drives down it. (It's not wide enough to do both sides at the same time.) My tractor is not beefy enough to power the implement or to even safely hook it up.

Has anyone followed what's been going on with John Deere? Like automobiles, their equipment relies more and more on computer controls. Apparently they lock the owners out of the systems so that farmers cannot work on their own equipment (meaning they gotta pay the dealer to do it.) I just read that J.D. may be opening up the software, but it's still rubbed people the wrong way.

NOW J.D. is moving more and more manufacturing south of the border. They recently laid off another 1,200 American workers, bringing the total to somewhere north of 10,000. So there's somewhat of a boycott. I don't know what the alternatives are if you want to "Buy America."

And it's too expensive for both of us. 60HP+ to power it and over $25,000 to own it.

Heard, Trump tells them if they move to Mexico, "he will", if he gets in; be putting big tariffs on them.
