Bumping this old thread. Early voting starts tomorrow in Texas so we will be there with bells on. Sounds like there are record numbers of early voters this time.

Early voting started "early" in IL. Sept 26th. Illinoisans can vote 40 days before the election. We voted last week.

I've never voted early and won't be this year either. In Millinocket, there are rarely lines longer than three or four people, so the process takes about five minutes from the time I arrive at the polling place.

I know it sounds silly and probably is and I understand the values of early voting but I’m still a little queasy about it.
To describe the feeling, it is like the difference between a live interview versus that of a pre-taped show.

When I watch or listen to a live interview or show, it is what it is. Like it or not, there it is.
On a pre-taped show, I am certain that the hosting entity will edit and chop up the show at their leasure and to their liking before it is viewed.

The same goes for early voting.
I want to give those cheating *&^%*^&$&#$%$@# as little time as is possible to do their editing.

What really irks me more than early voting is the fact you do not have to show an ID for voting; in my state anyway. I always take my voter’s registration card and driver’s license with me an slam it down in front of them.:D We have to show ID for cigarettes, alcohol, traveling, etc., so why not voting! They compare our signatures to last year’s signatures, which is stupid because people’s signature changes over time.o_O Most of the clerks are not happy about not having to show an ID, but they have to follow the rules of the state.

Back in the day, Richard Daley and his cronies, one being Al Capone, always had control of the state of IL. “Vote early and vote often” was the motto. I think only one time the state of IL went red is when Reagan was running for president.

It's complicated to get an absentee/mail-in ballot here. You never know when it's going to arrive, and I'm afraid, if it doesn't arrive in time, or I change my mind, or wait too late to send it in, it would cause a mix-up at the polling place on election day. I don't even try mail in.

I tried early voting a couple times in 2020 and 2022. There were only a handful of places. You had to drive across town, and the lines were outside and around the building. On election day, there was hardly anyone at my assigned polling place left to vote. Took 5 minutes. So I'll just wait until Nov 5th.

President Trump and Elon Musk, along with a lot of other people , have been encouraging everyone to “bank their vote”. At first, this seemed odd to me, because the more people vote ahead of time, the more the liberals know how many fake votes to make to pretend to win.
However, people are also saying that we could have more things happen unexpectedly that could stop voting, so that it might not be possible to vote on Election Day like usual.
An EMP, for example, could take down power in a lot of places, or even the whole country, at least enough of it to stop Election Day voting. Anything is possible at this point.

Even if nothing happens, I believe that there will be more voters turning out to vote than usual, and lines might be long, since we only have Election Day voting here in Alabama.
Up til now, we have gone around 10AM, after the early morning voters, and before the lunch ones, and not had long lines, and one time they had a special lane for us Oldsters who could not stand in line for very long.
I had taken my walker, just in case, but did not need it.
So, for both of those reasons, I have been bugging Bobby about getting the absentee ballot and voting this way just this one time. I read the information, and it said that we can do it if we have health issues.

I really miss voting in person. I almost always knew someone who was volunteering on Election Day. In 2000 we had lines outside that wound through the parking lot. Now, it's mail-in or drop-box. I would never consider mailing it in. There are a few in-person voting locations but I've been using a drop-box and plan to vote by the end of this week. It's a long ballot this year. I'm firm on all my candidates but need to study the state and local issues a bit more.

We are notified by email when our ballot is mailed to us, when it has been received and when it has been tabulated. Still, I do not trust the process.

If we survive these traitors, it will be a miracle. They will all vote democrat along with the libs. Goodbye what's left of America.
If I were a millionaire, I buy the property next door to some local polluters aka politicians and move in illegals like the Haitians next door to us who live like they are still in Haiti.
They have destroyed property values. Not that anyone would buy a place next to the junkyard anyway.
None of them work yet they drive new cars and trucks.
Just wait till the illegals Biden brought in gets a good hold of America. Once the resources are gone more violence will happen.
I feel sorry for the young who will pay the price for our loathed apathy.

I voted early only once and that was when I had to be out of state on business on election day. Otherwise I have voted on election day except when I was in the Navy, when I voted absentee.

We both voted this morning. There was a short line but it moved pretty fast. I'm still annoyed that Texas removed the "straight party" vote option; we had to scroll through 68 pages of ballots. (In years past I considered each candidate but now I'm not voting for any democrat... ever.)

I called to find out about the absentee ballot situation, and we can go to the Dept. of Licensing, get the absentee ballot, and fill it out right there, so we are going to go and do that tomorrow morning.
This way, I do not have to worry about whether there are long lines on Election Day, or if something happens and the voting machines go down here, as has been happening in other places where they are doing the early voting.

It saddens me that people cannot see what we are in for if Harris wins the election, even after living through almost 4 years of this presidency. We all remember how much better it was when food, fuel, and even rental prices were more affordable under President Trump; but so many people only see the garbage that is put on the television, and they believe all the lies on there, and never even try to see if it is true or not for themselves.
The damages we have had done by the illegals are just a small part of what is going to happen next year, if the Democrats win the election, and they keep bringing more of them in.

No one will have a place to live. They are already moving people out of homes they have rented for years, just so they can raise the rents and put illegals in. I was just reading about all the homes in Texas that are now being repossessed, and this is going to be happening in a lot of states if the illegals are allowed to keep taking over our cities and our homes.
How someone can think that she is going to do things differently to lower living costs once she is elected, when those same options have been available to do any time, is beyond me.
It is worse than Charlie Brown believing Lucy about the football every single time.
