Tried 5mg melatonin last night, cut in half to see how I'd react to it; bed right before 12 am and up at 3:46 am. got up went to the bathroom, then came back and tried going back to sleep, somewhat of a panic attack, but not quite as bad as before, it seemed. Will try a whole 10 mg maybe, or another half tonight, and see how I do. I'm just going to take it slow, and see if it helps me get a full night's sleep. I don't feel any kind of groggy, or bad in any kind of way so far, so maybe this will help with the anxiety attacks, hopefully it will. Thanks everyone; for advice that y'all have given us.
Joy, I got out my flannel shirts and cotton sweaters. I'll save the polyester for colder weather. Far as the night thing guess I'll just do as the 112 old WW11 veteran does, if I wake up, I get up, some of the time but I do try first to go back to sleep. His advice for the old. He passed at 112.
I have written it before and mind you, I’m not Bible pounding but if you memorize the 23rd Psalm and mentally repeat it when you can’t get back to sleep, I think you’ll find a good rest forthcoming. I too take melatonin (12mg) every night but there are times when I’m troubled or have a bad dream and that’s where the Psalm comes in. I mentally repeat the 23rd slowly and have yet to make it through the second time if the 1st time fails. Over the years, I have advised perhaps hundreds of people, [especially combat vets who are programming in rescue missions] and have never had anyone come back and tell me it doesn’t work. Note: To be truthful though, if I wake up at 0200-0400 and start thinking about coffee, I just get up and have coffee. Something about the thought of the smells of a pot of coffee perking ……
One nice thing about melatonin is that it is a completely natural substance, since it is a hormone that our bodies all make to help people get sleepy at night. Back when I had a milk goat, I thought that the milk should have extra melatonin in it at night milking, because the mother goat would be producing it in the milk for her baby to drink and be sleepy, but I do not know if it works that way or not. In any case, it was healthy A2 milk, and I wish I still had a milk goat. I am just not sure that I could still milk one now. There is a book called “Melatonin Miracel”, and it explains more of the health and anti-aging benefits that melatonin has for the body; so you do not have to worry about side effects or taking too much, like you would with a chemical sleep medication.
I have worked with many combinations of Sleep Supplements for probably 7 trs or so.....and now what seems to get me to sleep for a good run is about 1/2 mg melatonin ... I started experimenting wth melatonin maybe 20 yrs ago and that was 3 mg...too too much. I take my last OTC pain stuff before I hit the pillow and that has to help. That is 11:30PM. Then I astart the pain routine at 5:30AM next day. Getting up for bathroom trips is the worn out bladder I live with. Some nigfhts I wake up less and some more. o
Having trouble editing, so what I want to say. Consider researching bladder supports, I jave tried some and sue one now, and a long time ago I bought DEEP SLEEP otc sleep aids and then I started to make up my own combo... Deep Sleep was good but costly for me.
Deep Sleep is also on Amazon of cours...It's good and I've used it long ago but was too costly and now It's MORE these days.. https://www.iherb.com/pr/herbs-etc-deep-sleep-60-softgels/84777
That one is expensive to use, Huh? Trying the melatonin first, to see how it does, for awhile now. Thanks for the info, Joy.
Yes, it was affordable pricey years ago but in today's WORLD, it's so much more, rich is good to be NOW..... Know this, take Melatonin about 1 hr before you want to go to sleep.
Thanks, Joy; last night forgot until we were headed for bed, but I took it anyway, it was the first time ever. Tonight I won't forget.
That is why I recommended the continuous release form of melatonin @Jake Smith. It helps prevent that "not able to go back to sleep" moment.
I think the milk has L-tryptophan @Yvonne Smith. That is why warm milk puts many people to sleep. It was a popular sleep remedy for years until a contaminated batch was released to the public years ago. As far as I know, it is now safe and is monitored for purity.
Will have to read that bottle again and see if I got the right one. Took 10 mg's last night, one hour before bed and slept hard thru the night. If this one isn't continuous, I'll make sure to get that one next time; when these are gone, "Thanks", Don.
Third night on melatonin, slept through 6 + hours, the last two nights so far; Thanks everyone for advice, no bad reactions either.
