Tomorrow night will be the first time I've had to fire up my wood stove this year. Forecast is for the low 40s 30s, meaning at my place it will be upper 20s.

Awoke to our first below zero F. temperature of the season. It was -2 F. this morning. Another cold night ahead and snow expected Wednesday and Thursday.

Looking VERY forward to our move to the Reno area in the middle of next year. All of the areas around Reno are much, much more "like us" than where we are. The Sierra-Nevada (Carson Range) is just west of Reno.
We are VERY grateful the 100 plus degree weather is over, even though 90% of people move to this valley (Vegas/Henderson) for summer high heat and definitely not cold weather or rain.

Compared to where we live, southern Nevada, we would take that weather. -2 is better than -15 that we had in northern Colorado early last year (2023).

Well, you have to understand this is only early November @Cody Fousnaugh . We usually have a period of -40 weather sometime during the winter. -30 F. is what I consider the dividing line between cold and very cold, as that seems to be the point where it becomes difficult to breathe if you are exerting yourself. A face covering is necessary to remain comfortable for most people below -30. I have said the coldest I have ever been was one winter on the Bering coast when it was -4- or so with 30 to 40 mph winds. Frostbite was almost instant for any exposed skin in those conditions. -15 seems warm by comparison.

I fired up my wood stove Tuesday night and last night because the temps got down into the lower 30s. Today is a damp, drizzling, chilly day with temps in the mid 40s, so I've kept a low fire going. It's days like these that make the hassle of heating with wood worthwhile.

The only time I want to see a minus sign before the temperature is if someone is doing math.
