My wife called my cousin she said her husband had the Cyber Knife 5 treatments in 5 days. I thought it was longer. They put you in some type of cast so you don’t move. That all I know about it.
Sometimes they do it in 5 days and sometimes they spread it over a longer period. I think most guys like to have 5 days and be done, especially if they are older. Sometimes I think they pair it with a short course of chemo, but I don't know if that is common.
Sorry to hear of your diagnosis, Tony. I know what a gut-punch that can be. Sounds like they believe there is no metastasis, which is a good thing. Localized treatment options can be tough but have a high success rate. We will all be here for you.
This morning, I saw an article for recipes you can make to bring to a Friendsgiven dinner. I never heard of this, so I cut and pasted some info about it. Friendsgiving 2024 Friendsgiving is a fun twist on Thanksgiving where friends gather, each bringing a dish to share, creating a unique and delicious feast filled with laughter and good company. There is no official date when to host it. The ideal time for Friendsgiving is the weekend prior to the official Thanksgiving day (Thanksgiving is always the fourth Thursday of November). Just gave me the idea maybe I should have a Doggiving, with my three faithful friends, Tia, Twinkle, and Mini. Thinking about it, I have breakfast with them Every morning. The routine is I let them outside, while there doing there business, I put food and water in there dishes, then get my breakfast together, by that time there ready to come in. There food dishes are a few feet from where I sit at the table. Essentially were eating together. They will come over and beg for food from the table, I can't resist. Depending on what i'm eating , I will share some.
I guess with the legalization of marijuana, they had to come up with a different name for "Pot Luck." When I had pets, it never occurred to me we were dining together. I now wonder what they thought about it.
Went to the urologist today, wrote down lots of questions to ask him, but when I got in there to see him, I automatically dumped 95% of them. The first thing he said was, "You need to have a biopsy," and I asked why if the MRI says likely cancer and you can see that there's something there. Why not just do the procedure, whatever that might be. He said because I've seen many cases that it's not cancer and there's no treatment necessary. The list of questions I had was based on me having cancer. So the only question I had was where this procedure is going to take place and if I will be able to drive after. The biopsy will take place sometime in January they will call me with the date. I will have to get pre-op approval from my family doctor. I mentioned that the report from the MRI had three Legions. What about the other two? He said they were no concern. My wife and I went outside to make sure everything was set to have the shed installed tomorrow. It looks like it's going to be a nice day it should be a go. We have to caulk and paint it when they finish installing the shed. My wife found the caulking gun in the barn. We've already decided to hire somebody to paint it maybe he'll do the caulking also. We'll have to buy the paint, we want to get some color chips to try to match the shed to the house siding.
I had a prostate biopsy scheduled and no mention was made of needing a driver afterwards. Circumstances with a bladder stone caused me to get the biopsy when I was already under, and when I came out of the anesthesia from the bladder stone surgery, they kicked me out the door (I had a ride due to being put under) and I was stumbling around Walmart a half hour later (it was oddly reassuring.) I did not feel any after effects from the biopsy, so I can't imagine that you can't drive since you won't be put under...I drove once I was sure the anesthesia was out of my system. Again, I had no soreness or any issues.
For the biopsy I will be put under, and I haven't handled it well in the past. So I won't be able to drive. He said they don't recommend Surgery on men over 70, because the risk of the surgery is higher than the cancer risk. Looks like Cyber knife if it's cancer will be the method. I asked him If it's not cancer, And cyber knife is not in my future, Is there any other medication to shrink the prostate and the growth. He said I was already getting the max dose of Flomax. He said not to worry let see the results of the biopsy then we'll figure out the best method to take. The biopsy will take place in January '25. I didn't get an exact date yet.
Tony ,I just saw this ,I'm sorry to read this and we will be praying for you. I was wondering why you weren't in music much lately.
I've been extremely busy trying to get things done on my "to do list", I figure I might be out of commission for a while. I've been busy doing heavy physical work outside, partly preparing for a shed being installed tomorrow. To be honest I've never felt so tired. I don't sleep well at night so it's all taking it's toll. Yesterday I went to BJ's Wholesale Club with wife and daughter, halfway through I could hardly walk. My spinal stenosis has been acting up, so that adds to my just wanting to sit or lay down. Sorry I don't really like complaining, I just like going straight ahead. I know there are some of you with bigger problems than mine. I saw so many songs posted that I either don't know the song or the artist, that I'm looking forward to listening too.
Tony, feel free to complain all you want. You are going through a stressful and exhausting time and sometimes it just helps to talk. I know lots of us are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers, and wishing we could help you out somehow.
Maybe you could write a poem about your experience and feelings. You have a way of capturing the reality of things. Or, just sit back and take it easy. Let your family spoil you a little.
