Was at Best Buy this last Saturday looking at new Dell computer desktop towers. Why? We have Windows 10 in our desktop and all new updates will end in October 2025. And, on top of that, Windows 11 can't be put into our desktop. All new laptops and desktops have Windows 11 Home in them, but computer manufacturers are starting to leave out the CD/DVD Player that is in the tower. Only way to have one is to buy an external USB one. A salesman told us that CD's and DVD's are fast becoming "Old School", especially CD's. In fact, unlike our old 2005 Dodge Durango, our 2021 Dodge Durango has no CD Player in it. We bought an external CD Player that plugs into the vehicle, before I figured out how to transfer music from our CD's onto USB's. We have two USB connections on our dash, below the Back-Up Camera Screen. I must've done the transfer right, because the USB's that I've transferred music on, all work in the Durango. Thoughts?
Yeah, my last few computers haven't had them. I bought an external CD/DVD but, for some reason, I haven't been able to get it to work.
Ah, yes. "Planned Obsolescence." It was their evil plan all along... now that I've amassed an eye-popping collection of CDs.
I have a friend who bought an external 3.5" floppy drive because of all the photos she has stored on discs. It does make one wonder what's next.
Heheheh No evil can win!!!! I have a small tv with a vhs player in it that I got before cars were equipped with entertainment sources. I have a battery operated dvd player. Both of those items only take on movie at a time. But then I still have vhs recorders, and dvd players, two combined. AND bazillions of vhs/cds left from all the kids that I can watch if streaming ever goes out on roku. Hoarders have nothing on me. I was just saying to a neighbor, I have maybe 3 saddles, no horses here and only one butt... However, I take a bag to the thrift store once a month or so. Too bad they have empty bags there that you can fill if you want to.
Yes, that's the problem with "dropping off" stuff at the charity shop. It's too tempting to "just make a quick visit". A quick visit for me usually involves buying something or many somethings. Quickly.
We still have a VHS tape player/recorder and a couple of DVD players, etc. We don't have a lot of movies but I have a ton of music CDs. I just can't play them in the car now.
Beth, we put a DVD in our old van, it works great. But you probably don't want that in a new vehicle. I had the works in my bus including a medium size screen tv that played movies. No movie player in my van ,don't need one no movies worth watching now.
I thought about transferring them to a thumb drive but I decided I don't care enough about it. I don't drive very far these days so my radio or streaming music doesn't get played much anyway.
I get that, we hardly ever go anywhere and when we do radio or DVD is never turned on. I listen to music at home so no desire to do so when I escape. Music helps me cope with the isolation, vines do too.
