Hopefully, they won't let Trump decide who to support and who not to support because he tends not to pick well.

Many of his advisors were swamp creatures last time, this time, he has an awesome team of people who love America working with him, so I think we are going to see a whole different ability to get things done with this term. If we have enough of the Good Guys, we will weed the bad ones out. Last time, it was the bad ones just supporting each other.

You can hire the best people in the world and they still have to be managed. You gotta tell them what your expectations are, you gotta tell them when they fail in meeting them, and you gotta tell them when they are doing a good job. And that is the Achilles Heel of self-government...no one wants to be a supervisor. "You know what I wanted you to do when I hired you." It sucks as much for the person who does not know they are missing the target as it does for the boss who wonders why the target never gets hit...and it's the boss' responsibility to fix it. We are the boss.

The problem with hiring people for the upper echelons of government is that you are dealing mostly with people who are convinced that they could do it better than the boss, and not just their own jobs - but the whole thing. Or you have people who are already working for another boss.

I agree. But their #1 job is getting reelected. I have no fantasies that I can make them do whatever I want, but we have a duty to exercise our power.

I'll readily admit that I don't sit on my Congressional reps enough. I put most of my focus on the state guys.

I have contacted both John Cornyn and Dan Crenshaw over issues I had concerns about. I was impressed with the personal responses I received from Cornyn; he answered my direct questions and invited me to call if I wanted to discuss further. So even though he gets a lot of guff about not being a hard-line Republican, I believe he is a good legislator and very capable.

Crenshaw's response was more of a canned blurb but honestly that was what I expected. He's still cool with his pirate eye patch. :D

I'm still basking in the glow of Harris-Walz and the establishment going down in flames. Come January I'll worry about the incoming group but right now I'm pretty happy we veered the ship back onto course instead of deeper into the abyss.

Same here. I was so afraid they'd steal this election, too. This gives me hope that all is not lost for America.

I just read an encouraging article that I guess fits here as well as it fits anywhere else...

'Censorship cartel' on its heels as Trump appointees, litigation crack open alleged conspiracy
Federal judge grants further legal discovery into censorship pressure after SCOTUS setback this summer while censored journalist discloses "as close to a smoking gun as we could hope to find now."
    Just The News
    Nov 19, 2024

The article is pretty short & concise. Here's my summary:

-The State Department's division that fights global disinformation (The Global Engagement Center, or GEC) may be on the chopping block. There are allegations that this division actually encourages foreign disinformation bordering on American election interference, while it has its supporters in the Senate (mainly to fight Chinese disinformation.) It's 7 year mandate expires on Dec. 23, at which point it automatically shuts down barring Congressional action. Related archived WSJ article Lots of good comments at the end of it.

--Legal Discovery has been approved in a lawsuit by Louisiana, Missouri and doctors who were censored because the GEC pressured domestic technology firms to do so. (I wonder what the "But China!" senators will have to say about that.)

--One of the censored doctors (Jay Bhattacharya) is a top candidate to head the National Institutes of Health (NIH) :D

-The incoming administration's sights are set on Facebook and the White House's pressuring it to manipulate COVID lab leak news. Health and Human Services was involved. RFK Jr has been nominated to take over that agency. :D

-There is email evidence of Twitter's prior lobbyist and his boss being pressured by the government to censor (ban) dissenting voices regarding the vax, lock downs, etc. Musk is in possession of the evidence. :D

-Trump's previous and next FCC chairs have both stated that Apple, Microsoft, Meta and Google parent Alphabet may lose their liability shield under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act for failure to show "good faith" in their outsourced content-moderation decisions. :D

:D=A Trump appointee is coming to [hopefully] disrupt these corrupted institutions.
