It was on the ballot here in Maine, but it was defeated. For whatever reason, out-of-state advertising money was invested in making sure it didn't pass. I don't know what that was about, but those favoring ending it didn't have the funds to compete.
Children walking to school or coming home from school in the dark, energy savings, something along those lines.
They want people to believe that they actually get more daylight with daylight savings time, and some buy into it.
Big box store companies probably worked against it. That extra hour of evening light probably meant to them that there would be more spending and $$$.
As Beth said once before, just pick one or the other ! Damn this should not be a hard thing to do. BTW what is point on voting for anything if money, and threats, and whatever else changes it? Why bother - really/
