Yeah; the price has gone up to $159 for the deep 5 qt. I guess they play the same games as Amazon. In other news, Macy's has the 4 qt for $129. https://www.macys.com/shop/product/...?ID=10468265&isDlp=true&swatchColor=Turquoise
I got it from here, but it has gone up $10 to $159. https://www.gygi.com/Staub-Round-Cocotte-5-Quart?quantity=1&description=87 Macy's has the 4 qt for $129 (see post above for link). It's not the "deep" style but the regular DO.
For anyone considering a Staub pot, the inside enamel is black--not light colored like LeCreuset. Staub is also made in France, though. Also, the lids have those little nipple things that allow moisture to drip back onto whatever you're cooking to "baste" it.
They are pretty much the same thing. Dutch ovens are usually heavy pots, but not as deep as a stockpot.
I am at the expensive part of buying new stuff...accessorizing. I bought a case for my new phone, protective screens for my new watch, a canning kit (tongs, jar lifter, bubble-burster, etc), labels, lids, and in the Gadget Spirit of @Krystal Shay and @Beth Gallagher I bought a pH tester: I figure it will add a layer of security to my canning adventures. I bought some wide-mouth quart jars and some pint jars at Walmart (in the store.)
I ordered a new pool vacuum today; it's kind of like a Roomba robot for pools. It operates without being connected to the pool pump system so we'll see how this goes.
A ceramic water fountain from thirstycatfountains for my cat. The pump is super quiet but the fountain sounds like I am walking around in a garden center or near a babbling brook, as I pass by it. It has different settings of water flow on it so I had to set it on low. They are attractive looking water fountains that look like home decor as well. The down side-- they are pricey.
Twelve vacuum bags for my backup vacuum. The stores rarely have them in stock anymore. Two replacement clothes dryer door switches. They are cheap. Two in case one arrives broken. They also had 6 packs, but I like to live on the edge.
I ordered a replacement tv remote, mounting tape, a straw broom for outdoor use and 2 assorted packs of staples for my staple gun all from Walmart and under $50. Waiting on broom and tv remote.
A NuWave portable induction burner. They are handy when cooking for a crowd, or for using outdoors on occasion. I had a couple of them in my RV kitchen but I gave them to my niece when they bought the motorhome from us. I could have used it when I had the mob for Christmas Eve. Also ordered a LeCreuset wide 6.75 dutch oven because... "sale!" I'm sure one of my kids will get this but I couldn't pass it up.
I have a induction stove. I love it! Cooks like a gas stove but it is electric. I can put a paper towel on the burner under a skillet, while cooking something that may splatter. You can never go wrong with a sale. I just bought a Calphalon 10-Piece Bakeware Set. I already have some calphalon bakeware but what can I say....It was half price.
The dryer parts were delivered today by USPS at a house 3 blocks away on a different street. An older woman at that address just brought it by. How lucky is that? Saved a lot of headaches. I saw a young boy in an unmarked white van delivering packages on our street last week. Maybe UPS and USPS hire a lot of new people during Christmas.
