I just won something else. Unfortunately, it wasn't money, electronics, appliances or tires, which I really wanted and needed, but at least I know the sweepstakes/contests I'm entering are legitimate and do, in fact pay out. I'll keep at it, and hopefully eventually I'll win the things I really need.
Way back in 1976 we won a car at a church raffle. It was a Buick Skyhawk. I don'tseem to have had any luck since. That hasn't kept me from buying two lottery tickets a week. Just one line each can't win if you don't play.
I agree, Chris, and congratulations on winning a car! I'd love to win one, but it would have to come with money for tax, title and license, which some sweepstakes/contests do make provisions for. Incidentally, the Powerball jackpot for Wednesday's drawing is estimated at (annuitized) $348 Million, or $226.1 Million for the cash value option. I hadn't planned to go out today, but I've run out of ink and need to mail my mom her Mother's Day gift (after I finish making it), so I think I'll snag a few Powerball tickets while I'm out.
I won £3 at Bingo once - I was shaking like a leaf - if I'd won more, they'd have had to carry me out !!
Has anyone seen Sheldon posting since he won the Powerball? I had also planned on winning, but that didn't work out. Apparently someone in New Jersey did win, although I'm not sure if they won the entire pot. I'd really rather the pot be split among several winners, or perhaps capped at a certain amount, with the excess being sloughed off for the next or next several drawings. I'd rather see the money help change many lives than that of one person or one family.
Sheldon is still around , Diane, but I am not sure whether he is a millionaire by now or not. He posted that he was going to go and dig up some new potatoes, but it is possible that @Sheldon Scott might actually be out in his back yard burying all the gold he got with his winnings........ What do you think ? ?
I won a whole Pig in a raffle once.... I had to get the butcher to slaughter it and chop it into joints and chops etc...I never knew so much meat could come off one PIG... I filled my larder freezer..and then gave the rest of the meat , rolled joints, pork chops, bacon etc, to the old folks home up the road...as it was almost Christmas they were absolutely delighted to have it.
The truth is I don't like Pork either...apart from Bacon....I haven't eaten pork in years..I think probably all that Pig put me right off, all those years ago..
