I recently bought a new laptop it’s only a cheapie nothing to fancy Acer swift go 14 inch

I’ve used iPads for years so I don’t use the new laptop …..very much at all, however I wanted to play a seniors chair yoga program I bought a couple of days ago ( it’s only short trial program ) but I have to download / install Google play

Hubs is quite technical but we gave up trying to download it yesterday as it pops up your computer is not suitable for this program
    Windows 11.

Reading Up more about installing the program , thought we’d try installing on my 75 inch TV in the seperate lounge room ( we’ve got a lounge and a family room ) but same thing …says TV is to old to run Google play …..WHAT …..it’s less then a year old

Anyone got hints whats going on …. Yes we’ve even watched YouTube how to install, ..it’s like it’s got a block …stopping us from downloading a simple app like I’ve got on iPad ……why is it so simple to download a app on iPad …..but so hard on laptop

[IMG] And yes we’ve checked it’s not pre installed on either the TV or the new laptop

Pretty much, the google play store is designed for either Chromebook or some android system device. However, if you do a web searches for ‘install google play store on windows laptop’, there are several websites that have that information.
It looked complicated to me !
You have to disable part of the Windows operating system and install some sort of a subsystem before you can do it, and then there was a list of stuff you have to do to make Windows and Android compatible.

Have you cheeked to see if windows or the App Store have the same program app ?

Kate, I'm not familiar with Google Play, but isn't it just like an app store where you buy/download Android apps? I have it on my car but I don't use it (I use Apple CarPlay instead.) I can go to https://play.google.com and see a bunch of stuff to download/buy. Looks like you just select "Windows" on that page to see which apps run on Windows. What's the name of the app you want to use?

Google Play is not an app, Kate. It is an app store. You go to Google Play to download/buy apps. (Like opening the Apple App Store to get an app for your iPad.)

The App Store very likely also has the app for the chair yoga , or at least a very similar one. Pretty much the companies that make these apps make versions that will run on the different devices. Try going to the App Store on your ipad, and whatever the Windows laptop has for downloading apps and look for chair yoga apps and see if you can’t find the one you like, @Kate Ellery .

I’ve got the app for the yoga in my iPad .that was easy as … @Yvonne Smith I’ve looked to it up the site and it says you can have it on an android and apple device at same time ..I’ve got a subscription for 3 months for $11
so I’m prob better off giving the thought of having it on my laptop a miss

@Kate Ellery I have Acer laptop there is no Windows on this. And I have Google Play with no problems. DId you download Windows yourself ? If so that may be the issue.

Kate said she has an Acer Swift, @Hedi Mitchell , which does have Windows 11 operating system, and what you have is the Acer Chromebook, which has the Google/android operating system.
Since you have a Google device, it automatically has Google Play Store on it.
I have not had anything with Microsoft Windows on it for years, but they do have the Microsoft Store on Windows laptops and tablets, so I am not sure why Kate can’t just download the chair yoga app from there and have it on the laptop if she wants to have it on her laptop instead of her iPad.

I tried again last night when I go to google play …(it’s a pity I can’t post photos) …all that comes up,is my TV Thsts less than 12 months old Sony Bravia and google plays says it’s not compatible , due to age of TV …my laptop that I’m attempting to add the app to its called Yoga Go ..Is there …but GP has a drop down menu where you can choose what device you want to add the app to ….( kinda thinking it’s the laptops issue ) cause it doesn't show up as a option only the tv and its grey so even if I wanted to add it to the TV it’s greyed out ….we are not in the city where I bought the laptop for at least another 2 weeks ,so I might take it with me and go into Office works and ask if they can advice / give me hints on what’s going on
