I'm pretty happy with basic cheese pizza these days, but I also enjoy mushrooms, black or green olives, pepperoni, or a combination of some of those. I'm not one for the 'loaded' pizzas, with everything but the kitchen sink on them, because to me, they detract from the taste of the pizza itself. I'm somewhat of a purist at heart, and I really enjoy the taste of a nice crisp crust, the sauce, and especially cheese. Did I mention cheese? I have been known to add (or order, if I'm not the one cooking it) extra cheese on top. I've never had a stuffed crust pizza, although I wouldn't mind trying one at least once. Oh, and I like to top my pizzas with crushed red pepper. How about you? What's your favorite type of pizza?
Pretty much the same as you, Diane. I like original thin crust with pepperoni and mushrooms, extra cheese and don't skimp on the sauce. I do use a lot of the crushed red peppers too, or add some sliced jalapenos
Ha, @Sheldon Scott, I definitely have to skip the jalapenos, unless they're the very mild ones typically used on nachos...those I LOVE! I have bought jars that looked the same, and some are nice and mild, which I can tolerate, but then others are super hot and irritate my IBS and ulcer. I haven't figured out how to discern which is which without actually buying and tasting them. I know that Dairy Queen has the ones I can tolerate, and when I buy nachos there, I have them load the nachos with jalapenos.
I tend to load them. A deep pan pizza with sausage, peppers, onions, mushrooms, diced tomato's, tomato sauce and extra cheese.
I am totally with @Ike Willis on this one ! I love everything on my pizza, too, and deep dish is even better. Both Bobby and I like anchovies on our pizza; so sometimes, I get a can of them at the grocery store, and then add a few on when we make pizza. We don't have it very often, and usually in the winter when it is cold and we can use the oven without heating up the house. Sam's Club sells the DiGornio pizzas in a frozen 3-pack, and we keep those stored in the freezer for a night when we want an easy and hot dinner. I add more veggies and cheeses, and then either jalapenos or anchovies, depending on which we happen to have in the house, plus more oregano or Italian seasoning. I like fresh tomato slices on top of my pizza, Bobby doesn't; so I add those on top when I get my slice. My favorite all-time pizza was one called "Hawaiian Delight", and it was from a pizza place in Idaho that hasn't existed for many years. It had all of the veggies on it, plus Canadian bacon and pineapple.......... Oh, the pizza from Heaven , it was !
Wow, favorite pizza toppings..I think it is safe to say, I like everything but anchovies on mine. Usually if I am just getting one or two toppings, I will opt for something like sausage and mushrooms or sausage and green pepper. However, I love Pizza Hut's Veggie Lover's Pizza. There is a pizza near here, Hunt Brothers, and it comes with all of the toppings for free. That is a really good pizza, but it is small in diameter so it doesn't last that long.
When I was a kid we ordered what we called "garbage" pizza... but basically it was everything but anchovies ... and certainly NO pineapple... Who in the world ever thought pineapple was something that should go on a pizza? Being from the Chicago area... it simply isn't done.
ooops.... no offense intended with my pineapple comment..............................but really? Just kidding ya.
You have NO clue what you are missing in life until you try your first pineapple pizza, @Carol Cook ! Of course, I may be a tiny bit biased, because I just love pineapple; but even so, it is worth trying. To be honest, Bobby doesn't like pineapple on his pizza either; so maybe only dedicated pineapple-people would enjoy it on their pizza. I also used to make what is called "Breakfast Pizza" and it had more of a cream cheese topping and chopped up apricots. I guess it was kind of the pizza version of a breakfast sweet roll. They probably never make those in Chicago either......
Cheese, sausage, onions, mushrooms. Or, cheese, ham (or Canadian Bacon), pineapple, onions. Or, chicken with buffalo wing sauce!
I avoid dairy. If I make a lighter pizza I use fine chopped broccoli, onion and bell pepper. I guess for me it's all about the crust anyway. For those who have a Trader Joe's in their area, the refrigerated pizza dough is really good. So is their bottled pizza sauce.
I have had breakfast pizza.. but with scrambled egg, and peppers and sausage links... not a sweet version... AND I just may have to try pineapple some day.. I do love pineapple, but having it on a pizza is not something I have tried... but I should.
