I like 7 brides for 7 brothers - Sparky isn't so keen 'cos the brothers kidnapped those girls Well the music was great ! My all time favourite is West Side Story
"A rather comical song from R&H's musical "Oklahoma!" where Curly (Gordon MacRae) draws a picture of what would happen if Jud (Rod Steiger) were to hang himself. Unbeknownst to Jud, who takes the idea very seriously (thus, the somber face throughout), Curly is teasing more than sympathizing".
I have never ever cared much for musicals, although I remember watching them, and probably enjoying them; but they were just not MY kind of movie. Give me a Randolph Scott western, or Audie Murphy anytime instead ! Never the less, there was one muical that i really did enjoy, and it was also one of my all-time favorite movies. This movie was "The King and I " starring Yul Brynner, who I was incredibly fascinated with back then, and as a teenager. I probably watched all of he movies that he played in back in the 50's era when he was a rising star.
All of you have mentioned worthy musicals. Growing up I loved 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. In my head, I would see myself as Eleanor Powell's character and loved the seen with the girls singing and dancing in their bedroom.
@Yvonne Smith - me too, it was a lovely musical and Yul was magnificent I'm a huge fan of the lovely Deborah too
Went to a high school production of "South Pacific" and did like watching on TV "The Music Man". That's about all the musicals I've ever been exposed to.
one of my favs. Xodus from the movie. The state of Israel is created in 1948, resulting in war with its Arab neighbors.
