I so love my morning coffee, but even my 1 and 1/2 cup of it I have makes my tremor worse, go figure, lol. I do want to stop using the coffee, it does give me a boost, and when I don't drink it, my jitters are so, much less.

I will have a headache in the late afternoon without coffee in the a.m., and I also just feel sort of run-down without it. I am wondering if anyone has stopped caffeine, and how did you do it? I am hoping to find something that is as "taste" satisfying as coffee (I know it would have to grow on me) but I can learn to live without the "high" from the caffeine.

Suggestions anyone? I love having my stevia in the coffee, and some creamer. It's sort of a treat for me in the a.m., so if I could find something else that is like that. I'm tried some decaf, but there is still some caffeine in decaf. I may go with that, and I think I definitely need to wean myself off the coffee due to the headaches. I may have to force myself to get going, and not slop around in my jammies too long either, lol;)

What about herbal tea? IS that something you have tried? I mean you will not get the caffeine jolt, but you will have something warm to hold in the morning. I love my coffee..and don't think I could give it up, but herbal tea comes in a lot of pleasing flavors, which I am sure you know..so you might want to try
a cup of that in the morning if coffee bothers you. It could be just the thing you need.

I thought of trying some tea (herbal). I do like it, but never tried it as a replacement. Sounds like a good alternative KE. I think I will get something with cinnamon, and I know the English put a little cream in their tea, so I could still have that, as well as either honey, or stevia;) I will have to wean myself as I mentioned, but I can start that, and then maybe half of my coffee, and the other half as a cup of the tea, worth the try;) Thank you much;) Denise

I usually have a regular cup of cofee in the morning, and none after that. I do have some instant decaf that i will sometimes drink, and I also have a non-coffee drink called Roma that I really like.
Roma is a roasted grain beverage, and tastes a lot like coffee does, much better than Postum, or any of the other coffee subtitutess that I have tried. If it is not in the regular coffee section of your grocery, then look in with the health foods.
I don't really like tea very much, and only seldom have that; so it would not ever work for me as a coffee substitute.
I think that if you cut down to one cup, that would help, and you could also get some decaf and mix that in with the regular coffee for the first few weeks.
By the time that coffee was used up, then you should be able to just go to decaf and be okay, since you would have weaned yourself off of the caffiene.

I also make iced coffee for myself in the afternoon on hot summer days, but I use the instant decaf and that works great.
I use the blender, add ice cubes, spoonful of instant coffee, half-spoon of dark cocoa powder (unsweetened), and some milk or coconut milk, sweetener if you want it, and blend the whole thing up good.
This is delicious, and if made with decaf or Roma, has no caffiene.

I'll look for the Roma, I think it will probably have to be something "coffee" like for me, or I won't stick to it. Thanks for the recommend Yvonne. Also, decaf is not bad, and I do understand it still has some caffeine. I do think with that little though, I should do a lot better with not making my tremor worse;)

    thanks again;)

I did read about coffee/decaf about a month ago. I mean I didn't realize decaf still had some caffeine. And the process is interesting, but it didn't sound like they soaked the beans in anything life-threatening, although, I didn't look too far into the soaking solutions;) Thanks joe:)

Your iced coffee sounds so good, I don't have a problem with caffeine but am sure gonna try it.

I agree @Chris Ladewig , about the iced coffee. Forgot you mentioned that @Yvonne Smith ;) I sure don't like that Starbucks bottled crud, but home-made, sounds way good!! Especially for Summer:) I am going to look up Roma online, to buy it. I don't live near any, decent stores, not a one except I guess Safeway. I love Wincos, and back home in Oregon they have Sherm's Thunderbird. I love their products, but that's the beauty of the internet, you can order things online, and usually cheaper too!!

Of all of the coffee substitutes that I have tried, I like Roma the very best, @Denise Happyfeet . Also, when you make the iced coffee, you have a blending of different flavors together, plus the dark cocoa, which adds a rich chocolate flavor to the iced coffee; so it is a good way to start out with a coffee substitute.
I like making it with instant coffee because I can get a richer flavor than just using cold coffee.
I don't really have a problem with coffee unless I drink some later in the day, and then it might be hard for me to go to sleep that night, and my mind won't slow down.
Often, I don't even finish my first cup in the morning, because by then, the kefir has me so energized that I am ready to get outside and start with yard work, or get ready to go to the fitness center, or whatever is on the schedule that day.

I was watching a show on my Roku 2, which I'm enjoying immensely so thank you for telling me all about your setup. I can't think of the other deal you have, oh, I think it's Tevo?? Well, anyway, I sure like not paying for cable, and getting all the channels.

Ok, so now I'm off to look up Roma online. It may be carried in one of the store here in town, I sort of doubt it though. I'll let you know. Yes, definitely has to be "dark" chocolate for me. Plus, I like using the stevia for a sweetner. I love the mocha type coffee;)

OH MY GOSH, tell me there is a cheaper brand than this??

There's no way I can afford this stuff:(

Well, @Denise Happyfeet , that IS for a pack of three; but even so, that looks pretty darned expensive to me ! It is a large jar, and I have had mine for a while now; but i think it was about $7 for the jar, about the same as a good quality instant coffee.
Not everything is cheaper on Amazon, unfortunately. Probably your Safeway will carry it, if they have a health food area.
Otherwise, if you just get some decaf, that should help you get out from drinking the caffiene. If it is causing you to have tremors, either you are drinking too much, or your body is having a bad reaction to the coffee, either way..... Not good !

Oh shoot, I didn't see it was a pack of 3 Yvonne, no wonder!! Well, I still need to see if they have it at Safeway. I did read about some others but your Roma sounds the best so far. I'll go look at what safeway has. In July, I have to go down to see a cardiologist in Eureka, so they have a Winco there. Until then though, I could just get some decaf to mix with my regular, and get a jump on decaffenating myself;) Thanks again!!

I have never heard of Roma, so I can't speak to that. Personally, I can't tell the difference between caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee, nor has anyone else I have given it to unsuspectingly, so that might help. Although I like hot tea, I don't think it takes the place of coffee. I don't suffer any ill effects from coffee though, and I drink a lot of it, although I can go days without it easily.

The only issue I had with the decaf was the headaches from no caffeine, and the "no energy" feeling. But I did it more cold-turkey, shouldn't have done that and won't again, lol;)
