Check out real Stevia, not the cheap type like Stevia in the Raw you can buy anywhere. Health food stores usually have it in bulk and you can buy a small amount. It is so strong/sweet you can only use about half the size of a pea, no kidding. It's from a plant, and should have nothing in it but stevia if you can find that. You eat like I do as well Krissttina. I don't believe in "no treats" but I do notice I don't long for treats as much now Also, like I always mention, water is my main drink of the day.
You're welcome Krissttina, I want to mention again, make sure what is in the cheaper Stevia. Some Walmart's I think do have the real thing, but I ate/used Stevia in the Raw brand since about 2013. I contracted tinnitus, ringing in my ears. I do not know if that Stevia with additives, or fillers, caused my tinnittus, but I do let people know that I started eating the real stuff about 2 weeks ago now. If my tinnitus improves, I may have found an answer to why my ears ring, all the time! Also, I have read where some people can't eat stevia, I don't know why but I need to let you know. I do think the more pure you can get it the better. I was wondering if, since you live in Hawaii, if real, sugar cane is good for a person? I don't use processed sugar like the C&H Brand, but just never thought about the plant itself, the sugar cane? Also, I think raw, local honey can be a very healthy alternative to processed, or fake sugars like aspartame. I am so allergic to the "pink" packages of fake sugar with the saccharin. I was having awful stomach pains for days when I was doing a job, when I was about 40. I told my gal-friend I was having stomach pains, and she told me that happened to her and it was saccharin. I told her I didn't use that, but I remembered my grandmother used it years ago. She asked if I was sure, and I said that I used some sweetner in the break-room for my tea, and she went and looked. Sure enough, it was saccharin in it. So I quit immediately, and within a day the pains were gone. So yeah, read the lables because they will try to tell you it's natural, or organic, or safe, but we have to check it out ourselves If you ever need any help finding out stuff, I love to research these things, and be glad to help you denise
You know what...thanks but I got to watch Dr. Oz and he did a show about the very thing we're discussing here...so thanks, but don't go researching it unless you'd like to know more. I'm satisfied with the show I saw saying that Stevia or Monk fruit sugar subs. are the safest and the best. Organic honey is costly...though delicious and most nutritious too. Dr. Oz show about sugar substitutes. Thanks though for everything. We munch on dates and figs from CVS and Walmart too...your sweet tooth will delight in these 2 just sweetened fruits and nothing else added!
I think Dr. Oz is right on about the Stevia. Did he talk about how to buy it, in what form I mean? Mine doesn't come in packets, it is a white powder, ungranulated, the granulated has filler in it. Also I can't agree more about the dates, figs, and I have tried papaya I think it was?? Yummy I'm about to go to bed and read now Krissttina, but it was nice to get to see you tonight I hope I get to go back to the islands one day. I've only been once, but who knows, I may get a second trip one day denise
I eat as natural as possible and lucky I live in the countryside. Raw milk from grass fed cows skimming off the cream to make butter. Eating vegetables as they come into season and very little grains. I eat like they did 100 years ago and that is before all these modern ailments. 100 years ago you killed an animal and eat meat for two or three days and after it was salted or dried that was it because no refrigeration. In the olden days you had fruit only when it was in season nowadays you can buy almost any fruit in the supermarket all year long.
Good point on the fruit @Martin Alonzo I didn't even think about that. I suppose there is good, insecticide/pesticide free fruits they grow in places that have Sun year round. I at least wash mine good, but who knows. I can't always find grass-fed, cage free etc. but I think I have to be more diligent about it. I believe many of my health issues are absolutely from foods, and the ways they are grown, or handled. In our tiny town, we have at least 3 garden areas, that are either really cheap to rent a spot, or free. There's a couple of people in my apartment bldg that grow their own vegies in one of those. I don't know the size of each space, but I want to look into it. I'd have to do a lot of studying because I've never had my own vegetable garden. What a blessing that would be though.
