I'm really fed up with things going missing in my flat What happens to them ? Went to get something today, knowing where it 'should' be - not there Gremlins for sure - I'm plagued with them Does this happen to you ..............?
Yeah, often. I'm still looking for my SS card. I think I may have thrown it away by accident. When I was caring for my mom, I had to check the waste paper cans around the house. She would throw eating utensils, knives, food and all sorts of things away.
@Ike Willis pesky little critters aren't they - I'm just looking up 'Gremlin Eradicator', no luck yet
I'm always frantically looking for something that I need at the moment and it's always the one thing I can't find. I do find it eventually though so it's not gremlins or I have gremlins that return things. It's usually where I thought I already looked but obviously not or I would have seen it. At least I don't have missing socks anymore because I live alone and don't wear socks that often. One less problem, but I'm sure it's been replaced with something else.
Gremlins? So that's who I can blame it on next time I misplace something or forget to turn the kitchen faucet off. Why just today those Gremlins got in the dryer and took off with one of my matching socks!
@Frank Sanoica Yes a Gremlin is a naughty little imp...and the Leprechauns are the keepers of the pots of gold at the end of the rainbowss. There are some very naughty Leprechauns though especially when they have had a few to many Irish whiskeys.
This happens to me literally at work. I look for something, it's not there and then I go and get the needed item and discover I now have two because there was already one there. This doesn't happen constantly but it's happened enough.
@Babs Hunt I was once quite interested in the folklore of imps, but have found different things lately to mess with.
This is not to brag but we have a place for everything. Our house is organized when it comes to where you should place a particular thing. But read this. Last weekend when I was in the province to stand as wedding sponsor for a relative, I got a text from my husband, asking me where the remote of the tv is. We have a subscription to cable tv and had changed the digibox to an HD type. The technician was to come on that Saturday so my husband has been checking what the technician might need. And the remote of the tv is surely needed to change the setting of the input - the HD digibox will be connected to a different input socket. Before you get confused, we keep the tv remote to a safe place so it cannot be used since the remote of the digibox is what should be used to operate the tv (actually the digibox). Now, the problem is that my husband couldn't find the tv's remote control. It was not in the drawer of the nearby lamp table where it should be. And since I was away, I couldn't help. The story goes that my husband had searched all the drawers - that lamp table, the tv cart, the 2 cabinets in the living room. With the help of our 2 housemaid, they searched for more than an hour in futility. And then my husband remembered hearing a former colleague about the name of a saint who could help find a missing item or even a person. St. Anthony de Padua. In desperation, my husband tried that - he invoked the name of St. Anthony and asked for help to locate the remote control of the tv. In less than a minute, one of the housemaids, exclaims. She found the tv remote in an envelope containing the warranty certificate of the tv. You may not believe but it happened.
