Sorry Babs, but I don't agree with you on the Catholic Church and I was never shown or told it was a mortal sin either to read the Bible.

There is nothing to discuss, Babs. You believe what you want to and I'll believe what I want. We each have our own truth. You won't change my mind and I won't change yours nor do I care to.

Bobby, was it on all money back then? I read where Eisenhower introduced it. Also, I thought it wasn't supposed to be part of government. Religion. Obviously we can't even agree on a God, so who's God would be in government?

It all sounds like religious persecution to me and isn't that what we were trying to get away from?

    Forgot to add. ...

@Babs Hunt , you worry to much about heaven. :)

I'm not worried about purgatory, I'm confident that I won't be going there and even if I was it's not something I worry about or even think about. I'm living in the present and enjoying my family now and whatever happens when I die isn't a big concern. Most of my family are Catholics, the ones that aren't are atheists or agnostics. We don't have any other religions. My grandmother was Methodist but she converted because my grandfather was very catholic and so was his mom.

I'll have plenty of people praying for my soul in purgatory guaranteeing me a quick ascension into heaven. Not really an ascension as it's really not a place.

Besides, I like the thought of purgatory. People that have been pretty bad need to do a little time, so I agree with God on this. :)

@Chrissy Page For someone who has nothing to discuss....you sure did alot of discussing of it. Nothing I said was to try to change your mind Chrissy. I shared God's Truth with you as you kept coming back asking for more. It never was my Truth, it was God's straight from His written word the Bible. I didn't say it, God did....and I believe every word He said.

And Chrissy I actually want to thank you for keeping this discussion going for so long because talking about God my Father, Jesus my Savior, God's Truth written in the Bible and the wonderful gift of Salvation are the most important things in my life besides the Family He has blessed me with.

No @Chrissy Page, not on all money. Actually the mandatory placing of "In God We Trust" on all American money didn't happen until 1955.
The coinage started shortly after the Civil War to help remind people that we were all Americans, under God and not a bunch of war mongering heathens.

I understand your distress when it comes to "whose God" and "who's God" but be a peace when I say that the CONCEPT of God is the same in all circumstances even though the personality of God may differ from culture to culture and person to person. When we do a study about our money we see that nearly all thoughts and cultures are exhibited on various instruments. When we do a study of our constitution we do not see freedom FROM religion but merely freedom OF religion whether it be any denomination or none at all due to atheism which is still a religious sect or sects.

To some, such as I, the pointing out on our money and legal institutions that we are a civilized grouping of cultures who live by a set of standards, morals, and ethics promoted not by insinuation but by actual laws enacted by a higher power greater than we is a boon to humanity. To lose that direction would give permission to any and all to begin their own government within a government bent on it's own implosion such as we see in those nations who deny an existance of a God at all.

In short, don't worry, be happy.

Yes, I believe there is. Moreover, I believe that it is the same conspiracy that is in play in a lot of other areas within this country and around the world. But Christians know to expect this in the last days, which is not to say that I am convinced that we are in the last days? I believe we are, as all of the elements are in play, but people have believed so before and been wrong.

Yes, there have been numerous end of the world prophesies and we are still here, or maybe we aren't and it's an illusion. In any case I paid my bills today so I hope it doesn't end now.

To be honest, I really don't care when it ends. Another thing that doesn't cause me sleepless nights. I've always worried about the little things not the big ones.

I wouldn't even bother prepping for any scenario because I think the chances of some country like Korea taking advantage of our in fighting will drop a nuclear bomb on us.

No matter what the future is bleak for the US in my opinion. Doesn't matter who wins the election, we are divided and we will fall.

For God a day is like a thousand years so how do we know how close we are to Christ's return? We know by the warning signs Jesus Christ Himself gave us in the Gospels. And as the Bride of Christ, we are told to ALWAYS be prepared for our Bride Groom to come and get us because we know not what hour that will be. Everything is unfolding for Christ's return right before our eyes. Whether it be tomorrow, a few years from now, or many years...Christ will return and fulfill everything written in God's Word.

Satan knows this and I believe just by how fast the evil and darkness is increasing here in America and the World...that even he knows Christ will be returning soon and his time for being the ruler of this World is almost up.
He and his demons, along with all those humans he has deceived, are conspiring to do everything they can to "erase" everything to do with God before God returns and erases all of them.

Well, I'm the opposite. I don't like talking religion at all. Maybe because it was the anniversary of my husband's death today and I didn't want to dwell on it, usually it's good memories but so close to my mom dying, Just didn't want to think about it this year. Did get flowers for myself, like I do every year, and the forum kept me occupied.

Now I'm going to start looking online for some angel figurines to add one to my collection for my mom.

    Have a good night. :)

I don't care either, as long as I know that I'm ready. Christians should care about others who may not be ready, too. In fact, we're told to. Keeping your religion to ourselves is the opposite of what Jesus asks of us.

  10. I've been trying for the last couple of hours to think of a polite response, but have been unable to do so.
I didn't expect to find antisemitism on THIS forum, and I don't want to be in the position of having to choose between letting nasty remarks slide or having to battle
against this sort of thing. So please cancel/delete my account.

Anti Catholic too but doesn't mean that theirs is the truth. I find that preaching about religion just turns people off and has the opposite effect and that's why people are turning away from religion and God.

Okay, I just spent several minutes looking for evidence of antisemitism in this thread, but to no avail. Can you point me to it, please?

So sorry you have decided to leave because of some squabbling between a couple of posters but that happens in each and every discussion group I have ever observed.
If we do not like what is going on in one topic, we should find another topic and do whatever we normally do. But, I do know that it is hard because on one hand we feel that we want or need to add some sense to an issue but on the other we know that in some cases, adding our personal perspective to something might just add fuel to the fire and we ourselves might be the one getting burned or emotionally damaged.

I personally take forums like a grocery store. If I find that one or even two purchases are not edible I report it and go about my way always careful about making the same purchases of a particular product in the future. But, if I find that the whole store is undesirable, then is when I make the change.

Hope you have a better day and reconsider your involvement in this discussion group. As you have seen, most of the time everyone gets along but we can expect some tension in the Hot Topic areas. God Bless........

Antisemitism (also spelled anti-Semitism or anti-semitism) is hostility, prejudice or discrimination against Jews.

@Janice Martin I had to make sure that you were speaking about what I thought anti-semitismn was before I could response to this post. And now that I have I'm going to tell you that if you took offense at something that was said here, no offense was intended. And while I won't apologize for speaking Biblical Truth, I do apologize if I hurt your feelings by speaking this Truth.

Jewish people and Christian people believe in the same God, the same Jesus Christ, and the same Bible as far as the Old Testament part goes. And we Christians are blessed that the Jews did not recognize their Messiah when He came to earth, for if this wouldn't have happened the Gentile people (my ancestors and me) would not have been offered the gift of salvation and eternal life that Jesus Christ was sent to offer the Jews. And we would not be Christians serving the same God that the Jewish people do. The Jewish people are God's Covenant ones, but now we Chrisitians are grafted in to that Covenant too and I am thankful for this. So in a way Christians are "spiritual Jews" because of your ancestors not recognizing the Messiah when He did come. We are sisters and brothers in Christ and children of God together too.

I can't change the Truth of God's Word @Janice Martin and I won't not speak it either. But no offense was ever intended and I'm sorry if you felt it was.
