Growing up I always wanted to learn to play the Piano but with 9 children to raise...there wasn't any extra money for a piano or lessons. That might have been a good thing since my fingers aren't very long so maybe I wouldn't have been able to reach all the keys that well.

Later in life I thought about and even now think about learning to play the guitar. We have one so I wouldn't have to buy one and I also have a DVD on learning how to play it. One of these days maybe I will get around to doing just that.

Do any of you play any musical instruments? And if so, which ones? And how serious are you about them?

Always wished I could play a fiddle. I love those fast country and Celtic fiddle tunes.

I played the clarinet all through jr. high and sr. high school. It was very good for me to learn music. Now, I want to play the piano. I know how to read treble clef but the bass clef is foriegn to me. I want to buy the product "How to play the Piano in a Flash" and learn chords with my left hand then I can play the treble note by note.

I'm still interested in piano too @Texas Beth but I think I would find the Keyboard much more interesting now. And I even have one that my husband brought to our marriage. But I have no idea how to play it and nothing to teach me how either. I don't even know anything about those musical terms you just used either. :) I guess that is why I was afraid to even try to learn to play the guitar even.

I'd have loved to learn to play the violin. The sound that 4 strings and a stick with yet more strings can make has always fascinated me .... I find violin musid very moving.

I played Cello at school..and was in the school orchestra

I have dabbled in keyboard over the years...and I can play a few tunes, but really I'm not very good..I wish I could learn to play steel guitar.

My daughter otoh, is very musical, and is an excellent Bass as well as acoustic guitarist and plays several other instruments too including percussion and woodwind....

The violin is my next favourite instrument - it sure can lift your spirits, make you cry too
I love Stefan Grapelli and his jazz violin, I also love 'The devil went down to Georgia' - superb playing on that
Then there is the soothing, wonderful violin that moves me to tears - all wonderful

Actually, after seeing how some DJS "played" their records, etc., I would say the record player could definitely be considered a musical instrument now days. @Gary Ridenour :)

@Ike Willis - I love that, thank you for sharing it. I've downloaded the audio so the video quality doesn't matter. I'm playing it again as I type .....

Have you heard Nicola Benedetti, Patsy?...she's brilliant...

She's a Scottish/Italian classical violinist rather than a 'fiddler'...but here she is playing alongside Rod stewart...it's just breathtakingly beautiful...
