I must admit that I have never driven a motorcycle, but did ride one time with my then-to-be brother in law. His Harley came chugging up our side-drive one afternoon, we knew my sister was dating a biker. My Dad exclaimed, "What the hell is that noise?" This was in 1947, I was 5 then. His Harley likely was a pre-war model, had a shift lever next to the gas tank, and a clutch pedal like a car. He sold it before I got to know much about it. Frank
What a beauty Julie! I am always fascinated with bikes but I never got the chance to drive one. I drove an old Mitsubishi car before issued to me before when I was still a Finance Manager of a food chain company. I needed to roam around 5 cities here in the Philippines, Metro Manila to be exact to monitor my area. But, I almost met an accident in the highway prompting me to give up driving. The management was so concerned and worried, they need to assign a driver for my safety. But now that I had the stroke, that lead my dream to drive a vehicle looms. But that don't give up my dream about travelling. I still can travel with assistance by land, air and sea. I dream to travel likewise by spacecraft if that will be feasible in my lifetime! hahaha.... Who, says its a sin to dream? Why not dream big lols!
@Frank Sanoica - that bike sounds wonderful, it would be a true classic now! @Amie Ar - so sorry to hear about your stroke, but how wonderful that you still dream about travelling. I love to travel and have been to many countries and will continue. I'd definitely go to space if I got the chance.
Good for you Julie! Don't mind my stroke, I've survived and have lived with it just fine. ;) Enjoy the bike and be always safe please.
@Joe Riley - another funny found by you. What made me smile was the similarity to your profile photo - cup in hand, glasses, smile (nothing else similar!)
I saw this video on Facebook yesterday and thought of this thread. Truckers and bikers both get a bad rap sometimes, but there are good members of both societies. A lot of the bikers I've met participate in many charitable causes. I don't always care for the noise, because the Fibromyalgia sometimes seems to amplify noises and also tactile sensations, but I definitely appreciate the beauty of many motorcycles, and the desire for speed. This video shows the tender side of truckers, and it's nice to see a trucker and a biker working together.
I love mopeds and motor scooters. I think a big Hog would scare me however. I enjoy riding on motorscooters with speeds up to about 50 mph though. I have had some small bikes in my day, and have really enjoyed them. In this area, it is all about golf carts, but they are super expensive. Most cost as much as a car. Golf carts are pretty functional in a lake community...but like I said, they cost a fortune! I think a small motorbike would be cheaper.
