"Disabled Teen Beaten Bloody by TSA Agents" "For sheer stupidity and incompetence, this incident involving the TSA and a disabled teenage girl suffering from brain cancer who was savagely thrown to the floor when she became confused about a metal detector going off, can't be beat. Why these bullies weren't thrown in jail is a mystery." https://pjmedia.com/trending/2016/07/02/disabled-teen-beaten-bloody-by-tsa-agents/
My goodness! I hadn't heard about this before and yeah, it's shocking alright. I researched a little bit before answering here to see if maybe there was another side to the story (there often is) but I couldn't find it this time. There is just no excuse for this kind of treatment. Did you see anything about why the metal detector went off in the first place, @Frank Sanoica ? I couldn't find that. Did she have a metal plate or something because of the cancer? It wouldn't need to be anything like that actually... my cousin set off the bells and whistles at NASA and had security in a tizzy because of a single hair pin. Gracious. And also, why did they wait a year to sue? Inquiring (and journalist!) minds want to know. All these horrible things happening because of the security demands since 911. That attack is so far-reaching and will continue eternally. And still terrorists are welcomed in while sick children are beaten. America.... we gotta get it back Frank!
I don't think the problem is that we have the TSA, I'm all for making my flight safe and we haven't really had anything in the US where a plane was blown up by terrorists since 911. The problem is who they are hiring to do these jobs. The problem I see now is terrorists are doing the shooting and blowing up before security, like the recent one in Turkey. If it's true what happened to the poor girl than that TSA agent needs charged for assault. I do know that if you have any medical issues that would cause concern going through security you need to call in advance. We did this when we went to Florida with my mom who was on oxygen a few years ago.
I didn't see this, why was a disabled person traveling without a companion? Not that it was right in any way just wondering why no one spoke up.
I thought her mother was with her, I'll have to read it again. I did read it again and yes her parents were with her. Article said her mother tried to intervene but was told to stand back.
I found another site with a little more info but mainly in the comments...yes,they knocked her down and bloodied her nose but only after she tried to run. To me it's a situation that went bad and everyone had a role in it. If you have a daughter that freaks out easily because of mental problems...warn them at the airport. Airports are not the place to act strange, everyone should know that by now. You can't even joke. https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/4qwfbf/partially_paralyzed_teenage_girl_with_brain/
